Then let me add that this is a particularly bad case. I know there's a user called foone that has gotten posted to HN enough times that they explained why they use twitter to make posts instead of writing a blog (they have adhd, and th

I made an honest effort to read that and I just couldn't. I actually can't imagine any kind of reading medium that's worse. There's chunks of text interlaced with a bunch of visual noise, random images, links to separate

This is ironically good advice because its bad advice. These kind of general statements about how an mvp should take x weeks are pointless because each project is different. Which is an obvious statement. So is the suggestion that you shoul

There's a pretty cool project by oskar stalberg that does something like that (arguably even better because the output is often very beautiful). https://twitter.com/OskSta/status/1266264444276858884

Doubt anyone would save much money on hand tools. Going all hand tools is more of a luxury - those hand planes and speciality saws are not cheap and an absolute nightmare to maintain. Any woodworker is going to need a collection of both. Th

Well I doubt they actively try to make it worse. But I would believe it if because of the lack of incentive, they din't make active efforts to improve it.

I fear that this would normalize the data collection process even more. We're like a metaphorical frog slowly being boiled alive.

For the life of me, I can't understand why there is so much emphasis on the virtual-dom and dirty checking. DOM manipulation is expensive, so a check is made to see if it really needs to be done. If you're guaranteed to need an up

Weird that you're getting downvoted. The difference between code and data is pretty big. One implies an expectation that the user is going to write some kind of algorithm whereas the other is basically a config file.

Its funny that you mention that. I reread your comment, and for some reason this time it triggered my memory of lotus notes. I've heard of lotus notes in the same way as betamax and the avvro arrow - ancient tech that was ahead of its

Maybe we could use a doctype that allows for plain websites (no js, no forms, no inputs) to be accessed without a warning from the browser when not using https.

Its remarkable how many go projects are very simple and small. I don't think its worth going through other go projects to learn best practices because at that level, there's not enough complexity to learn anything that isn't

Oh, c'mon, that's a bit of a stretch. I was around in 2014, when angular 1 was starting to be a big thing. If you look at reactjs on google trends, react gets its first bump in 2014-15, and then another one around 2017. VueJs gets

I am stunned by how many people actually like working with go. As a language, I've always thought it was horrible. But as an option for tasks like network programming, devops, setting up a web service, it's one of the best. So I u

If you google 'when to refactor rule', the first hit is "rule of three" followed by a bunch of other articles also calling it by this name. It's a fairly popular term/idea.
