I’ve reached a point where I stop reading whenever I see a post that mentions “one-shot.” It's becoming increasingly obvious that many platforms are riddled with bots or incompetent individuals trying to convince others that AI are som

RAM encryption doesn’t prevent DMA attacks and perofming a DMA attack is quite trivial as long as the machine is running. Secure enclaves do prevent those and they're a good solution. If implemented correctly, they have no downsides. I

It really was Oracle’s fault – they neglected deployment for too long. Deploying Java applications was simply too painful, and neither JLink nor JPackage existed.

I've always liked Scala as a language, but it's challenging to write high-performing and memory-efficient code on the JVM in general. Whenever you raise this issue, you'll encounter a horde of JVM fanboys who insist that it’s

My main machines have been running Linux for years now, but there are still some things that are really bothering me. For one, I think dealing with virtual machines are still somewhat painful on Linux. VM managers continue to be clunky (I b

It’s not that simple because most people will instinctively click ‘no’ without fully understanding the risks. They'll assume that as long as they don't forget their password, it’ll be fine – which is the case on Macs because, unli

How is this possible? I remember reading something about 3D para-virtualization not being supported on NVIDIA consumer GPUs.

I’m not trying to defend Microsoft, but I think people are being a bit dramatic. It's a fairly reasonable default setting for average users who simply want their data protected from theft. On the other hand, users should be able to opt

They’re useful for attestation, boot measurement, and maybe passkeys, but I wouldn't trust them to securely handle FDE keys for several reasons. Not only do you have to trust the TPM manufacturer – and there are many – but they also ha

As someone with limited networking knowledge, I’m not really getting smarter here. Some say it adds security; others disagree. Let me ask this: does IPv6 benefit me in any way if I have multiple devices at home behind a router and I'm

> Bitlocker encryption key in plaintext Actually, this is not the case. BitLocker wraps the key, meaning even if the TPM were compromised, one would still have to brute-force the PIN for the actual key. It’s cryptsetup on Linux that stor

Passkeys were designed to be bound to a device. Also I don't like using browser extensions as password managers or connecting them to a browser via an extension. It's been proven not to be safe many times.

You've largely ignored everything I’ve said. Instead, you proposed workarounds – which is precisely what most people want to avoid. Who distributes applications as fat jars? What is this? 2004? You’re supposed to distribute your applic

I'm sorry, but this is a big load of crap and that includes some of the comments in here. Java enthusiasts are the absolute world champions of sugarcoating the shortcomings of Java and the JVM in general. This is what writing a CLI app

I agree with the author’s sentiment about FIPS 140. I find NIST to be incredibly slow. I understand there must be some stability, but they are too slow. For example, I think it's horrible that they are still recommending PBKDF2 in 2025
