In my (somewhat limited, I don't have kids, but went to school in towns with many options for private education) experience, private schooling in the US at every level is prohibitively expensive for all but the upper-middle class, and

You have to pick your poison: build up subscription costs, or build up support costs to maintain your own deployments. Depending on your budget, the number of users, the need, the support contract with the vendor, and your priorities, the c

From what I hear, it is. It's a lifestyle choice; I'm surprised that the tone of your response seems to imply it is a necessity. It's not surprising that for this group of people who loved their work so much (see Einstein

Indeed, they've received very positive critical reception. Having played a handful of them, they're very well produced and pretty decently written as well. The genre is definitely not gone, just not in the mainstream.

I suspect that's how it came to be chosen at my alma mater. Lots of theory-heavy professors. Was a great experience learning in Scheme, btw.

Speaking as someone with minimal 4chan experience, /b/ is probably not "the good bits," but is only a subset of the rest of the site. There is often good discussion on music and movies, for instance.

With seemingly more emphasis being placed on complex pub-sub architectures, has there been any equivalent development of tooling to assist in visualizing/grokking an existing pub-sub application? In my experience at least, pub-sub arch

"add___" might imply mutation of the stream, which it seems to me (just reading this tut for the first time) isn't the mindset the framework wants you to be in.

I like this description. I don't know that you need to explain hashing to laymen, though. Hand-waving is acceptable when communicating to people who aren't skeptics (laymen). If they're really interested in fact-checking you,

Sounds very similar to the things I've done with web.py in Python-land. Very small, lightweight services that had no need for the power of Django. One such example was a GET/POST/DELETE service to vote on submitted items (ide

It sounds like "fun" to me. I think that's something that Snapchat was able to capture very well, and it looks like Slingshot is looking to actually improve on. It's just plain fun to see what your friends are all up t

Bluetooth (at least in my experience with XBox 360 controllers) introduces a larger amount of input lag than wired controllers. This is important for FPS and other twitch games.

You need some sort of cost/benefit to go off of to make decisions on which features get included and which get cut. One way: consider how many Windows users would switch OS's or not chose a Windows computer as their next purchase
