Yeah the classic management by spreadsheet. Intentional "X percent voluntary attrition" might look good in a spreadsheet ("Y million saved in severance!"). Somehow it never takes into account that it's the best peop

If coworkers are competition then it doesn't make sense to help them too much. And if you have to do anything with hiring it makes sense to steer the process towards hiring people less capable than you.

The only good source is a network of people you know in person. If you don't have one, working on open source projects is a good way to bootstrap one.

The society as a whole would benefit from more information transparency (in the job market and several other areas) but the economic incentives just don't align to make this happen. Which is kinda funny because the free market itself i

First thought is that it's the most profitable users who would choose adless. The ads industry would not like their reach to be limited to those not paying for premium search.

That's unrelated to the point GP is making. The point is that they are not incentivized to put poison into burgers to get money from the poison industry.

That's not even the problem. The Stack Overflow guy wrote a very informative response to people claiming they could clone SO in a weekend (I can't find it now) The core of the problem is not even the quality of the code but rather
