Garret from HipChat here - We obviously agree that lots of apps have used chat bubbles in logos over the years. In fact, probably way too many. The only reason its an issue this time around is that our users are genuinely confused when they

It's surprising how often chat services get compared to Yammer which has no IM functionality.

Just because you can set something up yourself doesn't mean you should. You'll take on the burden of maintenance, support, and teaching people how to use the system. We could all be running git on our own servers instead of using GitHub, ou

Good point. It also means that it's not a repeatable marketing angle for us.

It'd be interesting to see how the domain shown next to the title factors into this too. Seems like everything from GitHub always does very well.

Feels like they're providing canary builds in a backwards order. First Windows, now Mac, and hopefully Linux soon. Seems like Linux users would be the most tolerant of failures and most likely to report issues accurately. Maybe Chrome has s

You bet - I'm hoping to add more regions and data once I have some free time. Still putting out some EC2 fires from yesterday.

Totally agree. Would love to add all this data once I have some free time. Some basic performance data could be cool too...

Made this a while back because I was sick of the way Amazon's instance info ( http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/instance-types/ ) and pricing info ( http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/ ) were on different pages in a hard-to-browse format. Hoping thi

Awesome! We've had support for this in HipChat rooms for a long time and I find myself using this syntax all over the place only to be disappointed when it doesn't actually notify people. Hopefully more apps will follow along.

I've heard that the server it runs on is the most powerful machine Google owns. Perforce can't be distributed and has to keep track of all the files that are opened by every user (p4 edit). Must be quite a beast.

I'd like to second this. Although Twisted's documentation and 5-year-old bugs will have you cursing the libraries name at times it really does perform well once you figure it all out. We're using Python + Twisted for our XMPP servers at Hip
