I'm not sure what's the point comparing benchmarks this way. Choosing a database is not only about performance, it's about the type of application you are building, the stage it's in (prototype product doesn't have the same need as a produc

"Gonzalez stole real money, I'm sure causing many people a great deal of trouble and distress." I don't think I'll ever agree with this. I have seen this argument brought up times and times again and every time I feel that we miss the point

I understand what you are saying. I do agree that Chef [and RightScale? Never used it) makes it easy to spawn new instances and through load balancing average your load. I was talking in term of tradeoff in the first few weeks of a new serv

That's why I like to use Heroku/EC-2 for launching new webservice. If shits hit the fan, you can jack up the processing power/database/RAM/whatever to scale to your demand. Once you have a good idea of the traffic it generates, you can then

I would submit to you that the reason why Apple is what it is today is because software & hardware are intertwined.

Shipping isn't a small task, and since it will only begins in a month, it's a fair assumption to think that they still have much to do. If the shipping was 50% done, I would agree but this isn't the case here

What scares me is that they are starting a new kickstarter project when they didn't even finish the first one. I was backing this project but just ask for refund. This actually makes me wonder: If one would want to scam Kickstarters, one co

The main problem with native development is how you are not as flexible as your HTML counterpart. Even with the massive amount of capital that Facebook has, a full native app would always be behind. Obviously, I don't work at Facebook so I

I do have a question however. I just read about 8b/10b encoding and I think we can agree that 8b/10b has around 20-25% overhead. This means that for the same throughput (29k/sec) we have 21.75k/sec of data. Since TMDS is a superset of 8b10b

At first, I wouldn't have thought that they would use encoding to maximize efficiency. But now that I think about it, their goal isn't efficiency but rather consistency. So yeah I was wrong. Maybe I thought this was more primitive than what
