This to me is the most important point in the whole text: "We already have a system for this: fiduciaries. There are areas in society where trustworthiness is of paramount importance, even more than usual. Doctors, lawyers, accountants

That’s one interpretation. Another is that people typically support foundations not simply because they “do good,” but because they advance a specific cause the donor personally values. For example, if I donated to a foundation focused on d

The current heinous thing they do is censorship. Your comment would be relevant if the OP had to find an example of censorship from 35 years ago, but all he had to do today was to ask the model a question.

I often think we should movefrom peer review as "certification" to peer review as "triage", with replication determining how much trust and downstream weight a result earns over time.

They could also just post posters in the european commision hallways, they would probably have the same amount of reach from there. So what prevents them from actually setting up friendlier instances is that people simply do not go there.

It would be much easier to leave the toxic dump that is X, if the other platforms were not almost as toxic just in the opposite direction. The best option would be to have a separate platform for the european heads of state to communicate w

Strongly agree with this. It may sound good in theory, but in practice, especially with real people, it can come across as overbearing, stifling, and exhausting for others. This isn’t meant as a dig at the OP. it’s just an observation based

My grandfather was a surgeon, an excellent one. When he was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, he went to every dubious healer my grandmother could find. He did it for her, and likely for himself as well. He was never right wing.

Except, as is often the case, it’s not that AI itself is easy to detect, but that bad uses of AI are. You are almost certainly reading far more AI generated text than you realise it just doesn’t register as such.
