I use a MacBook Air with 8 GB of memory and it's fine. If I've got a browser and VSCode and Blender and PrusaSlicer and Claude and XCode all open it gets a little slow, but Mac is very good at memory management these days. Someone

My understanding is that AWS budget actions also operate on a delay. I love using AWS at work but I'm never giving it my personal credit card as long as I can't turn off auto-billing.

Adding my opinion: Sequoia was fine and so is Tahoe on a base M2. Can't say I've noticed a usability difference. I also prefer using a trackpad over a mouse and I don't know very many keyboard shortcuts, and I only use one mo

Yes, but sometimes you want just important non-error logs to go to the console or journal, and then those plus verbose logs to go to a file that gets rotated, and then also stderr on top of that.

Multiple levels of logging, all of which you want to capture but not all in the same place.

I've never felt nagged. Every time I get one of those popups, which isn't too often, I think "neat, good to know." It's inconvenient that apps can't do long-running operations in the background outside of a few

Likely some kind of complex refresh operation that kicks off when entering the foreground and takes a few seconds to complete before overwriting your state.

I've had a very good experience getting Claude to use OpenSCAD to generate medium-complexity 3D models (braille dice). It struggles with figuring out how to rotate things correctly, so it's only a semi-automated process.

That's the nature of disclosure deadlines. Talk is cheap. If they didn't disclose when they said they would, Google wouldn't feel any pressure to fix the issue.

It's because there's clearly a near-1:1 ratio of input to output. I also noticed some LLMisms, and I suspect the author may have ran the text (perhaps in the form of a large number of bullet points) through an LLM. But because he&

If I'm understanding the paper correctly, the bursts had a mean duration of 0.14 seconds, which for a 1000 W microwave would expose you to 140 joules, enough to heat about a shot's worth of water by 1°C. Seems plenty fast to me.

The hardware isn't there yet. Apple's neural engine is neat and has some uses but it just isn't in the same league as Claude right now. We'll get there.

Yeah absolutely. Figuring out which, if any, drugs can be used to control people is extremely valuable for defence, not to mention offence. Same with the fascist Japanese frostbite experiments. Let me be clear: these were all wrong and u

Looking at blueprints will not tell you if a bridge was built correctly. It will tell you if a bridge could have been built correctly.

You couldn't do that with civil engineering, because checking if a bridge was built correctly is actually really hard, and it's why it's such a process for engineers to sign off on phases of construction.

Yes it is, and no they didn't. Apple has to allow (heavily restricted) alternative app stores, and I'm not clear on whether any actually exist right now.
