Interesting picture of the CPU! Multiple PLLs, different memory types, logic functions. From a hardware perspective, I think physics plays less and less a role here. What matters most nowadays, are all the subtle logical challanges introduc

was playing with a similar idea for rendering small electronic boards (= Arduino type) last weekend, mainly to help with pinouts of boards: http://pinboardjs.divshot.io/ - what do you think, might this be useful to you?

looks like a nice post, but only have time for scanning right now. I can not quickly see what is advice and what is not. maybe some better taglines: "do this... " or "don't do ..." would help the time pressured read

true, a RESTful API would be enough for state changes. but javascript would help working with events (e.g. for prototyping interactions). this goes a bit in the direction of building robots, e.g where Cylonjs is a nice example http:/&

nice - I was tracking this in the context of my book on Backbone http://pipefishbook.com/references , but isomorphic JavaScript has potential to address programmable devices via the web too, e.g. what if your lamp would spe

not exactly yet for import/export parts, but I feel the need for better online interactions with parts too. So, I started working on a small project to make this easier last weekend. First prototype: http://pinboardjs.divsho

Thanks! Good point, the web supports interaction with datasheets and conceptual work, less with the implementation of a PCB. On a sidenote, I was working on a small (open-source) project the last days to support rendering pin layouts of boa

nice idea - but I could not access the TOC of the book yesterday (some problem with packtpub). Is there a book website? Or any other pointers to projects that can be realized?

installation of just ubuntu is very easy and good indeed. but creating an hdd image with partitions and different OS/*nix flavors is still pain. the bootsectors need to be setup, the Grub2 language is not exactly fun (at least for me).

For my book on full stack JavaScript, I was looking into a small website for a cinema, which could be extended to hotels/rooms possibly. In fact, Airbnb has open-sourced their Rendr stack, which might give a nice foundation for your pr

as someone who just has finished writing a book, I think skimming the TOC and index are an important part to get an idea of the book's content. If I decide I want to delve into the book, I actually still like paper, since you can easy

it would be great to have people share more on the (open-source) software driving forums and news-sites. For example, I learned quite a lot about Ruby and Redis from looking at the source of Lamernews ( https://github.com/an

this is certain an outlier in the total set of programming books, I can call myself lucky if my book http://pipefishbook.com/ is sold a couple of hundred times by end of the year.
