God I wish Wikipedia wasn't banned by the Great Firewall. It's kinda sad that stuff like Caltrain electrification, for example, has a huge and well-researched article despite not even being in service yet, just because of the larg

It's a tragedy for sharing human knowledge. Say what you want about China, but there's a huge amount of amazing stuff there that the Western world just doesn't know about. Art, architecture, science, technology, etc. Think ab

Big shame that the tragic death caused by the wanton disregard for safety by the swashbuckling Uber ATG (now defunct) continues to damage the safety-focused and incredibly cautious Waymo even today. This comic is one of many that can't

I think it's even vulnerable to small arms fire. It's slow, low altitude, has miniscule range, and is manned, making it a much bigger target than drones.

Hotter, heavier, and worse battery life, for sure. Slower is up for debate --- having more ram, more cores, and possibly discrete GPU is great for all sorts of things. The Ryzen 7840HS is not any worse than the M3 in multithreaded things. J

None of the Amtrak rolling stock can really compare with the state-of-the-art high speed rail trainsets in that image though. Perhaps a better comparison would be, say, Siemens' facility for producing Velaro trainsets or Nippon Sharyo&

It's pretty interesting that many airfoils used in aircraft design were derived by NACA in the 1920s and 1930s [1]. You'd think that with modern computer software it would be possible to design better airfoils, but apparently, tho

Yeah the ROS node architecture sucks. However, one reason for that design was so that you can run ROS on distributed systems where things communicate to each other over the network.
