I am very skeptical that chromatic aberration can be applied before a demosaic and then the result can be stored in a Bayer array again. There seems to be no advantage in storing the result of chromatic aberration correction in a raw Bayer

People will gobble up all kinds of bad articles to reinforce their anti-Tesla bias. This reminds me of the "iSeeCars" study that somehow claimed that teslas have the highest fatality rate per mile travelled, even though: * They ba

Agreed. Also, the fact that current automotive radars return a point cloud (instead of, say, a volumetric density grid) is sad. But it will be a while before processing power can catch up, and by the time you have the equivalent of hundreds

Yea, and they are designed to filter out actually stationary things by ignoring anything that's coming at you at the same speed as the current car speed (from measuring wheel rotation).

The physical socket also introduces a new point of failure. In the olden days there was often "ram was bad but taking it out and reseating it in the socket fixed it", which can be avoided by just having it be on the same physical

Seems very sinophobic. Deepseek and Manus have shown that China is legitimately an innovation powerhouse in AI but this article makes it sound like they will just keep falling behind without stealing.

I used to do that except it was to play Runescape lol. The local library got some really nice Pentium 4 computers too.

You can also buy a rebranded Azure Kinect called the Orbbec Femto Bolt. Like the original Azure Kinect, the quality is amazing and blows the Realsenses out of the water.

Indeed, even in "classical chess engines" like Stockfish which previously required handcrafted heuristics at leaf nodes, in recent years the NNUE [1] [2] has greatly outperformed it. Note that this is a completely different approa

It is cool to see recent research doing this to reconstruct scenes from fewer images, essentially using a transformer to guess what the scene structure is. Previously, you needed a ton of images and had to use COLMAP. All the fancy papers l

The Europa Clipper is really cool. I think the Cassini Huygens that launched in 1997 has greater mass though. SpaceX isn't entirely focused on getting humans to space since they launch the vast majority of satellites thanks to great in

My understanding is that Crew 9 was always scheduled for a 6 month mission and they couldn't come back before Crew 10 arrived (in March 2025) or else the ISS would be shortstaffed. The two astronauts in question are simply hitching a r

The $2000 strix halo with 128 GB might not compete with the $9000 Mac Studio with 512 GB but is a competitor to the $4000 Mac Studio with 96 GB. The slow memory bandwidth is a bummer, though.
