Personally I, on the worker side of this relationship, enjoy the tracker - but I seem to be part of a tiny minority. That being said, I've been involved with the hiring side of IT contracting before, and I can say without nuance that i

I get it I do, but please can you try moderate your tone? First post I open, and I already am faced with this kind of feeling. Now my breakfast will be just that little bit more bitter. Be kind. I think it was that dang fellow who said it.

Our finger memory for ^a is now ^a-a. In all apps, everywhere. Mostly that just results in something like select-all+select-all, but occasionally it's awful

The effect of a grumpy person sending Bob to jail is also not immediate or enormous (unless you are bob or bob's family).

Your comments feel like you want a reddit style battle of wits. You throw words like ignorant around rather freely. I downvote these comments because they lower the tone of the discussion. We're not here to talk about each other or fee

My home currency is worth ~20x less than USD. I fall totally into this category. But I feel enough dumb pressure that I'll cave. As a result I simply avoid these types of interactions. USA is the weirdest place to be poor! One someho

I had only one job so far where code quality was a primary objective it was fantastic, but it was also extremely slow and expensive. Slower and more expensive even than what you're probably thinking right now. I was shocked.

Please say more about "legal frameworks for life management solutions". You can't just drop those words in that order with no further context and walk away.

How bad does it have to get before it stops working, I mean like phone a friend brittanica yellow pages bad? Quicker and more deeply we get there, the more effort and traction gets behind some breakout solution. Maybe it's just pure

Even if you get it to work 100% of the time, it will only be 99.something%. That's just not what it's for I guess. I pushed a few million items through it for classification a while back and the creative ways it found to sometim

I love this type of interview. I code with the goal of showing how it's done, not how much I can do, and they very soon realize that they won't see finished code on "this" call. It's an opportunity to teach non-code

I've no coworkers either, and over time both I and my code suffer for it. Some say thinking is at it's essence a social endeavor.

I travel serially :) After covid settles a bit, I'll continue trawling south america, until then new zealand, who knows. There are often jobs that pay more, but they're either the fixed-price ones, or have fewer hours.

I did finally cave, for some "easy money", and backslid into a job with that same system (which has evolved in really nice ways since then). I might have to give the deposit back if I can't start soon :)
