I think that mac's Help menu is also an example of great UX. If you don't know where 'copy' is, just click on the Help menu and start typing 'cop..' and you'll be presented with a beautiful animation (sort of) that shows you exactly where t

Yes, I've used TotalFinder from beta 1! It's fantastic. I was hoping Apple would add some of its greatness in Lion, but...

Finder is not all about beauty. What I like most about Finder (which makes me cry every time I have to use Windows) is QuickLook. It's SO much easier to quickly glance at a document than anything WE has to offer. I personally hate ribbons,

Any idea what you'll be working on? I'm almost certain they want you to help them fixing security holes, keeping us jailbreakers out, but I can't say I like it much! Personally, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'd be assigned to UIKit,

In case you missed it, Forbes profiled Comex earlier this month: http://blogs.forbes.com/andygreenberg/2011/08/01/meet-comex-... This is how Forbes' article ends: "A postscript to Apple: Perhaps your security team could use another inter

I would not be surprised if Jobs was speaking honestly when he talked down tablets in 2008. No, he was lying ;) Watch his D8 talk (With Walt Mosberg), it's available in iTunes (Podcasts -> Apple Podcasts). He (Jobs) says that they beg

Very true. And, I think when they were saying NO, they were also thinking about WHY they can't sell a tablet at the time and tried to solve the problems. 2000: Can we sell this tablet (or phone)? - NO, because hardware isn't good enough an

Yes, quite right, I haven't thought of that. Jobs was like the God himself, he could do whatever he wished and he didn't have to answer to anybody (for 99.99% of times). No other executive in Apple or elsewhere has this privilege (except in

This, and the fact that the man himself is still on the board of directors (at least for a few years). Also, don't forget that Apple is stuffed with talented people, like Ive, Forstall and Federighi who won't let apple become another 'me to

Patents are not measured by quantity, but by their quality. A ton of patents doesn't mean anything if you can't use them in court to hold AppleSoft back. I don't have the faintest idea whether these patents are of good quality or not, I jus

That is called fragmentation. It's hard for devs to optimize their apps to look good on different resolutions or aspect ratios. Even making your app to look & work "well" on both portrait and landscape modes is hard (by well I mean pret
