Yes the idea for this will be v. short haul for now which is why they talk about London to Paris; ~215 miles. 25 times further (50x lower energy density, 2x better engine efficiency) would be under 5,400 miles. Looking at the empty weight,

It's factually incorrect that high ranking British politicians are named on the Panama papers. It's widely known Cameron's dad was in the PP but also that he was not a British politician. It still stinks but there's no e

The vine program is a disaster for Amazon reviews credibility IMO. The reviewers are almost never invested in the product and most come down to "this product does the thing it says it will do!" and then goes on to some largely i

Try being in the UK right now. The government have even given up the pretence that it has anything to do with harm-- every unapproved psychoactive substance on earth is about to be banned from sale/import. Be thankful at least you are

You can run linux/gnu concurrently with most android phones today, just not so easily[1] and not as polished and with the caveat that there is no GPU acceleration[2]. There are a few apps that do it but AFAIK Linuxdeploy is the best. 1

I used the unicode symbols; ♠ etc for my game; http://playonline.cards It was a bit fiddly but definitely wins on file size. I would have used SVG for the face cards but they really killed performance with animation unfortunatel

Fossil fuel for electricity . Transport is a comparable energy consumer and overwhelmingly fossil fuel based. In cooler climates the same is true for space heating.

It was the fact that Youtube was normalising sound volumes that the author said nobody noticed, not that the loudness wars exists.. for which there are so many examples it might be quicker to list the counter-examples.

Google's intent doesn't really matter (I think you're right, I don't see it as a targeted offensive against the loudness war), it's the response from labels that does. Compressing music (in the loudness sense) at th

I love the dell venue 8 pro (5000), but I really wish dell would stop fucking around and go all out with it. Give us a proper display output, let us charge and dock at the same time, give us a 4GB option, get USB 3.1 with type-C connector o

I think it really depends on what you mean by 'a low end PC'.. if you mean a full desktop with an extensible (PCIe etc) motherboard.. I believe the answer is... way after you'd ever want to use the old PC[1]. But if you'

Agreed, the late P4's check the box when it comes to performance, but they are right at the worst point possible in terms of power consumption, the next gen (I would include CoreDuo, or P4 era A64) are vastly more appealing because of

For value in a used linux laptop nothing beats an Acer C710(~$60+)/C720(~$100); they'd beat the T400 or a 2.8ghz P4 (by a mile in total system performance), with an SSD and HDMI output, all while giving you >6hrs battery life

This guy is (pretty much) right. Firstly it's energy not power (power is more like the rate of flow of energy).. The embodied energy of a PC (ie, energy required to make it) is huge. >life cycle energy use of a computer is dominated

Yeah, anyone considering a digital nomad lifestyle isn't typically looking at NYC or London; the most popular destination of Chiang Mai is rated at $638/month all-in[1], and most have rent $300-$500 /month, not $1500. I reall

Yes, but this isn't a problem. Nothing is 'lost' with the digital stage. Vinyl sometimes has a different mastering, as you cannot increase the loudness of vinyl by compressing the waveform, as well as the fact that it is ofte
