Energy costs PER GB can actually be lower/much closer in a 3.5 inch HDD by going with the largest capacity drives.

Again, a great problem to have. More cost effective to hire help if you want to expand. Or repeat increases to diminish demand. Profit!

You are stubborn as a mule. I have done ABX. Like i said 1000 times, it wasn't subtle. I don't need 'a representative sample', i wasn't arguing 'all' or 'most', but 'not uncommon'.

I paraphrased. It was done for brevity. Did i misrepresent the intent of your post? I do not need to google it, becauase i can hear it myself. Like i say, not subtle. I haven't got vinyls/rips of everything, but i can assure you it is not u

> Digital music is technically superior to bumps on a plastic disc What you completely failed to realise, is that technical superiority is not the only factor as to how music sounds. CD mastering these days is almost invariably awful.

>So, if Bitcoin actually becomes ubiquitous, as are the creator's goals, do the creators come out millionaires? Billionaires, actually. It is one of my biggest problems with BTC.

The law requires a little more proof than that, otherwise you could just ship drugs to people you don't like to get them arrested.

Your reply missed his point as bitcoin is 'mined' not just bought and sold. The difficulty of that mining is set based upon the computing power of the miners. Add to this the fact that the number of coins available to be mined each day is d

The mining difficulty is adjusted periodically to balance the computing power of miners. As people stop mining, difficulty will reduce. I must agree it is massively stacked in favour of the early adopters, who could have made an absolute ki

It is essential to remember that there is massive inflation of the money supply going on (by design), and that this is the key driver of the price downwards. ~35% increase in the money supply over the next 12 months; proportionately higher

With points I might have to read the odd 'popular cheap shot' when finding gems. Without, I have to read everything, including these 'popular cheap shots'. And as many have stated (but i can't really quantify-- because i can't see how many

Could we perhaps have powers of 2 shown?? ie where points are 1,2,4,8... 1,2,3,4.. are shown. This would still allow some way to see the relative opinion of other HN users, but hopefully with less problems than you saw with the direct point

I'm not defending the ideas of raven (i don't know enough about it anyway) but OpenID etc don't solve anything for me. I don't want 'one login to rule them all'-- at least, not server-side (or the 'cloud' as we are supposed to call it these

You say samsung lose margin to retailers. Well amazon lose margin to manufacturers the same way. Prices haven't been reasonable yet because Apple showed people will pay a hefty premium; android tablet makers neither wanted to shrink this pi

I believe these chips can decode full HD in realtime because they have hardware acceleration for this. Remember, not even an intel dual core @ 1ghz could decode full HD in software in realtime.

Kind of screws over tablet or smartphone users however. (and no, google, i do not want to use your crappy mobile version, that is why i set my useragent to 'desktop', yet you don't listen!)

So who are these web users? Lets assume iOS/android users also have a full computer. Right now i think this is reasonably accurate. So that means all the web users are also computer users. What OS do you think these people are using?? Do yo

I find it interesting how you are so quick to separate windows XP from windows 7, but ignore browser differences. 99% of apps work on both windows versions and 95% identically, something that definitely can't be said for browsers.

OK, i didn't think through the code.. rather i meant to iterate downwards; var x = this.MyControl.TabPages.Count; for ( int i=x ; i >0 ; i-- ) { this.MyControl.TabPages.Remove ( this.MyControl.TabPages[i-1] ); }

Can we get some citations on these numbers please? ..we aren't even in Q4.11 yet? Another key factor to bear in mind is that, at least today, tablets are an additional computing device, and don't replace any existing PC.

I would highly doubt that. 'Desktop' can be seen as a panel on the start metro UI[0]. Remember, not all tablets will be ARM systems.. and I could see a market for ARM desktops too. IIRC MS showed the desktop running on their very first demo

Personally, i think microsoft were just scared of losing the tablet platform to apple and google. Desktops, or x86, very possibly aren't going to be common in the forseeable future. Windows is their clear competitive advantage to leverage.

I'd be really really suprised if the large scale PC producers were sending MS anywhere near $75 for each PC with windows on it. I'd say the profit on a PC not accounting for the licence fee would very likely often be less than $75. I would

I'm going to assume trello, like trellis! I agree with your points but think trello is fairly unambiguous, considering it was an available (? or cheap) 6 letter .com domain.
