You’re going to be in for some culture shock when you leave GitLab. GitLab was like a cult and few companies know how to do remote as well. Good luck!

I don’t understand why more companies don’t just go all in on Slack as the interface to their knowledge base. There’s tons of integrations to enable it. Every place I’ve worked at with Slack has the standard 90 day retention policy in place

Funny, didn’t GitHub start the trend of using system fonts on their site? That was such a refreshing change.

Reminds me of Workflowy. I love the concept of structured notes, but I think the colors are distracting. Also not accessible to color blind people.

This reminds me: I’m really looking forward to SQLite blob I/O being added to the Golang library. There is an open PR to add it. It will enable a lot of interesting use cases revolving around streaming of blobs rather than storing them

Technically, both parties have to agree on a local rate that is comfortable. No one is putting a gun to your head to accept an offer. If you accept an offer, it is because you consider it advantageous to accept rather than reject.

GitLab is great at remote first culture. Check out their open source company handbook. Remote first requires proactive process to keep employees engaged and communicating effectively. If you feel isolated and trapped in a silo, good process
