I used to love react of old with redux/flux and little to no hooks and weird side effects. It had super sound software design at the cost of being bulky. I think we should return back to that with the era of LLMs. We don't write t

That would be a strawman. I am not living in US and don't care about US politics other than they are rising my diesel prices. I'm just pointing out that historically this is the most DEI friendly we have ever been. If americans wo

I don't believe there was an era in history more DEI accepting than nowadays.

We used it for payment processing. We got huge CSVs from various APIs and used string decimals for computing to avoid overflows/underflows and rounding errors.

This the most hackernews post I've ever seen. Doing something in 50 hours that could have taken 20 minutes because vibe. I love it. The peak irony is that most of us work in a field that exists so that people don't need to do that

Memory management is pain. If you want to optimize, you're forced to 4k pages. Runtimes are fragmented. Wasi is a mess. Async and threading is awkward. Whenever you need to integrate with hardware you need platform specific adapters. I

That's not the fault of datacenters though. Not even a local heavy industry.

I agree but then using a volume of water as a measure without provided context is just fearmongering. Draining oasis in a desert might have much higher impact than one of the thousands of lakes in canada but still, it's a renewable res

I don't see the point of measuring how much water we use if we're not poluting it. It's water. It will evaporate and rain down again. It's renewable resource.

Safety is almost never functional requirement (unless for OpenSSL and such projects). You can always focus just on the happy path expecting users will behave. Even in Rust you can unwrap on unexpected value instead of handling it properly.

I do use a lot of EU services. But help me understand what is the hype about moving to EU cloud services? Is it any different? Wasn't internet supposed to break the international borders and bring us together?

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Instructions aren't so big anyways and they are optimized JIT by CPU.

Well my original idea was to show that in a future anyone could code for MCUs in any language. I actually changed my mind in the process. Now we got LLMs and people just prompt anyway.

Quake III was widely successful. John Carmack (probably not author of the algo anyway) later open sourced the game 6 years later which is admirable. Regarding his VR achievements, he made VR viable and not just a military project. I actuall

Removing null pointer guards would improve readability, not safety. Removing hashing on passwords would also improve readability and made the program easier to debug.

If you account for PPP comparing 2006 and 2026 and also take into account cost of living, Slovakia is not that much richer. Ukraine saw similar rise of PPP per capita as Slovakia and Slovakia wasn't even invaded in 2014. Switzerland&#x
