Because Norway heavily subsidized EV with exemption from the 25% VAT tax as well as perks like free parking. Which is ironic given they are basically the Nordic Saudi Arabia.

Agreed, that was one of the few recent SF films that didn’t seem formulaic.

Lifeforce was pretty bonkers, especially for my teenage self who couldn’t get enough of the female lead. Hard to believe it’s the same director as Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist - although Spielberg allegedly directed most of Polte

Some great movies on this list, I own most of them on physical media. Rollerball was just released in 4k and it looks glorious. I disagree with the commentary though, I think Rollerball still stands up and is quite prophetic in some ways es

I’m in the EU this week and I had no idea that the cookie banners were so obnoxious, every site has a huge page blocking banner, and plenty of US news sites seem to block EU traffic entirely. I had to use a VPN to access some sites.

Before Apple bought them and discontinued the product last year, the Beddit sleep monitor was the best option for me. I’ve had mine for years and use it religiously. It’s a small sensor that goes on your mattress. You may be able to find on

The page you are thinking of is probably https://www.wendycarlos.com/pruri.html I agree, Wendy is a pioneer and has an incredible body of work. It’s a shame her music is mostly out of print and not available to stream. I re

More accurately, you can’t alter or remove the VIN. I don’t believe it has to be visible at all times. Some car owners obscure their VIN because of public sourced databases like Vinwiki. https://www.justice.gov/archives/

Maybe it’s just me, but the further the prompts get from a concrete descriptions of instruments and compositions to abstract ideas and emotions, the more random and unpleasant the result.

Nothing killed my creative instinct quicker than having to mess with a PC based DAW and sequencer, and all of the attendant software complexity. Even worse, it’s online so distractions are just a click away.

There’s a study that proposes AMBER is mostly crime control theater. It’s also fairly redundant given widespread ALPR. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/249772258_Child_abd...

Interesting that the OP doesn’t consistently get the “stalker” warning. I see it consistently within 30-45 mins when I’m with a dog whose tag is registered to someone else and they leave my vicinity. It’s a shame Apple had to kill the theft

They will also notify an Android phone if they have installed the app which Apple created for this purpose. I have to imagine thieves would know about this.

This is a terrible suggestion because Apple has effectively removed the anti-theft features of Airtags in favor of protection against stalking. The thief will be notified of the tag in less than an hour usually. I see the alert anytime I mi

I agree with you on the tactile angle, but the Tesla touch screen offers larger font sizes for people with presbyopia which is something that physical controls cannot offer.

Thanks, interesting read. I guess the decision to sell all of those 100,00 shares at the Apple IPO was a pretty expensive blunder.

Xerox received Apple stock for those meetings which they sold in the IPO. I’ve never seen anyone do a calculation of the present value of that stock but it’s probably a significant fraction of Xerox’s market cap today.

Pretty hard to get NET30 invoicing on a transaction which is less than $450, especially if you've chosen the monthly plan. It's just not worth the labor chasing an unpaid $450 invoice every damn month.
