Hmm, who knew that if I had just paid good enough attention at my team's standups, I could have gotten a publishable paper out of it. This isn't sarcasm. I'm actually glad someone did it.

If they want to alienate drivers less, why don't they just issue new rules stating that drivers must accept X% of rides in order to stay on the platform? I thought they already had such a thing in place, anyway.

Again, so? Maybe you should update your scripts more than once every 10 years?

So? Python 2.x is just as good for this, and is pretty widely available. Besides, I don't write scripts for every production machine in the world, just a subset that I have access to.

Some of the hardest drinkers I know are Finns. I'm not sure exactly why that would be, i.e. why Finns might drink more than Norwegians or Swedes, but this has been my observation. Keep in mind, n=low (I'd have to think about

Considering how the only other thing I can think of to do with buckets of vodka in 19th century Poland is burn it, I'd probably go with drinking it, too. I'm not even sure burning it would work out well, either.

Current median home price in SF is $1.3M. 60% of that is $780k. You can definitely buy for that in Albany, Richmond, or El Cerrito. The nice neighborhoods in Richmond are basically in the south part of the city, anyway, which cuts down t

I'm literally saying it doesn't matter how they came into place. Zoning per se is irrelevant. It's inflexible and out of date zoning that's the problem. You don't have to go full on Houston and eliminate all zo

Sure, but do you really think people who won't wear a mask when it's literally against the law not to will wear one voluntarily?

Yeah, especially when you consider that prices just 30 minutes away from SF in any direction are anywhere from 20-60% lower than in SF.

Is it legal for private citizens to rent out vacant housing units in China? If so, that doesn't surprise me very much. Every landlord has more housing units than they can use.

Yeah, but let's be clear though: the problem is bad zoning, not zoning itself. The fact that SF prohibits apartments in 76% of the city, according to the article (which, I'm assuming, excludes places like Golden Gate Park) is an

No, COVID as a disease probably won’t go away entirely for longer than a human lifetime, I would guess. And, even then, it would probably either end up as a much milder disease. But, we can probably reduce the number of cases per year to ne

People like to see payments going away. It gives them a sense of progress. Unless you specify some fairly extreme numbers, the difference between the two strategies is pretty small. And, either strategy is better than staying in debt.
