NixOS may end up being "the last OS I ever use" (especially now that gaming is viable on it): https://nixos.org/ Check it out. The whitepaper's a fairly digestible read, too, and may get you excited about the

Isn't this basically... a Merkle Tree, the underlying storage architecture of things like git and Nix? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkle_tree Except that instead of a GUID, it's just a hash of the binary d

Can second this. Beware that your old git habits may die hard though. (It's nice that it uses Git as its storage backend, for now, though)

If this answer is satire, it is very clever. In practice, shared blocklists are not utilized to stop harassment, they are utilized to enforce ideological conformity and lack of critical-thinking

Being put on a shared blocklist isn't a "stay away from this person"; it's a "tell these thousand people to stay away from these other thousand people regardless of actual basis, because 1 person got offended"

yep, this is what I found. The evidentiary or reasonable basis doesn't matter. You will get shouted down and mass-blocked via shared blocklists, which is an absolutely horrible idea.

Right, right. As if your framing is completely objective. Give me a fucking break. I refer you to this answer I gave the sibling comment because your framing of facts is just as incredibly biased as his was. https://news.ycombina

I guess I assumed that, for example, multi device support on websites for various device widths entails a bunch of CSS, which means the epub renderer would have to also do that, which basically means a whole web browser. also that things li

That's not remotely "vibe coding" though. Vibe coding would be like using Claude Code or Codeium Windsurf with a recent model. Something that does the code edits for you and optionally lets you code-review them first to appro

It surprises me that the eBook (clarification: epub) format is basically XHTML because 1) that means that every eReader needs to basically be a web browser 2) this sounds like it would make reformatting for different devices NOT easier

It would be better if your goal was not to make "the left's point of view" more well-known (which is just pushing an ideology), but to call out unsubstantiated rightwing BS using evidence and reason.
