So, just to review the hypocrisy here: Full-on murder simulators: OK. Exchanging consensual pleasure with the wrong person: NOT OK.

There are languages that transpile to Lua that get you things like typing… https://typescripttolua.github.io/ I’m personally a fan of YueScript which is basically an evolution of MoonScript (but it’s not typed). https:

there are thousands of products that use Lua underneath or in some capacity. I investigated LuaJIT these past few months and I think it is underrated.

And I used it for 2 years on 2 drives on 2 different OS'es (Manjaro and Arch) and had 2 corruptions that bricked the drives. And they were root filesystems, so... that wasn't fun. Statistics are funny like that.

I've bricked 2 drives to btrfs (one on Manjaro and one on Arch), and 0 to bcachefs. Of course, I've never used bcachefs as a daily driver... nor as a filesystem in general... but I'd love to... lol

Every piece of information or file that is compressed sends a dictionary along with it. In the case of, say, many HTML or CSS files, this dictionary data is likely nearly completely redundant. There's almost no added complexity since z

I see comments like this fairly often and in my entire career (I'm 53) I've never had to use a debugger. For inspection of values, I write small functions and unit tests or just output to stderr in debug modes set with env vars. I

I guess I meant losslessly round-trippable. In other words, you can go from jpeg -> jxl -> jpeg without any loss in quality, potentially (although with jxl -> jpeg -> jxl, you will lose space while it is a jpeg, and you'd p
