Curious, was just thinking about this the other day. What does Gravitational offer in the way of special sauce that can't be achieved just be working with Docker/Kubernetes directly? What cost to the developer? How are you taking

I can't complain. Admittedly, I think it's a little thin on the ground at the moment (I'm in Adelaide). What's your focus?

I just had to deal with someone like this for six months - he always interrupted people, always thought he knew everything, was a terrible coder but thought he was great. However, he stressed multiple times that he never regarded himself a

Expected by whom, exactly? The targets of Linus' ire aren't his colleagues, they're developers with unfounded opinions and more often than not, little experience with the kernel. If someone publicly stated: "Why did you

The classic Linus tirades I've read are the result of the person he's addressing, who knows less about the project at hand, not accepting his reason for a particular decision he's made and continuing to press the issue. If yo

Yeah, you can take away everything you've learnt from it (which in itself is a valuable thing) but you're unlikely to get the business in a form that's worth the trouble. It's amazing how as humans we cling to the slight

Although I was a programmer before I became a designer (and still am), I've also found that graphic design (typography in particular), has positively affected how I compose functions and methods. It first started with the how I laid o

As someone who has never touched any of this stuff before, where might I actually find it useful in my day-to-day programming (assuming I might have an application where it would be useful)?

The state of IT in Australia is horrendous. My colleague and I are flabbergasted at the state of programming round here (Adelaide).

It's both. Nobody's forcing you to do it. Anyone who decides to take up such a mantle is going to face obstacles, and the journey will be unique for each person. Some will have it easier than others. If a person thinks it's

Kriegsmarine was (I think) the name for the German navy. U-boats were essentially submarines. Tonnage was the proportion of weight of the boats sunk. The "rest of them" refers to the rest of the U-boat captains.
