Slack was pretty much a perfect product 7 years ago. What have they added besides huddles that is actually useful? How many engineers are needed for maintaining an already really good product? Is it really a complex enough system to be hiri

Very happy about this, switched companies recently and Elixir was the language of choice. Coming from TypeScript, I missed a lot of the benefits of a typed language and having access to the data model from anywhere in the project. Elixir wa

This might be a good place to mention the Columbia Center for Justice which offers Justice Through Code, a bootcamp for the previously incarcerated. Someone I mentored there last year has successfully found work. I’d be happy to share more

Interesting! I’d never want my bank to _enforce_ a daily limit though, I’d just like to know roughly what we can spend today. We tried spreadsheets but that’s a bit too manual for us.

Very excited about this. We’re currently running a large db on fly and looking for a managed pg. We’re a fully Elixir shop and this couldn’t have come at a better time. Congrats to both teams!

I created a super simple web app (using Phoenix LiveView) to track spending and budgets. I found all the options to be overly complicated. My wife and I have monthly recurring spends (rent, healthcare, subscriptions, etc.) that we share and

In 2019 I built the original version of codeamigo.dev, a place to create coding tutorials, after codecademy rejected me for the third time. About a year in Amjad from replit reached out and offered to acquire the product and hire me full ti

Hello HN! I started this project a few years ago when I was unfortunately rejected by Codecademy for a software engineering position for the 3rd time. I love coding, and I love helping others learn to code. In my spare time I volunteer at J
