There have been a couple of these in the past few months. I'd be curious to get an update on what's happened with the ones that have popped up. The (I think) Brazilian guy who was designing web site themes for about $15 comes to mind.

Seven year SF/Bay Area resident here. This rings true for me in a number of ways. Two anecdotes: 1. SF is small. Several years ago I was reading Dreaming in Code. Turned out a guy that I had been working with for a year or so had come from

"I got this word doc linked off a dangler site for Al Qaeda peeps" I find his choice of words there to be rather amusing.

I've started a family in Silicon Valley, and it is tough financially. We were lucky to find housing a below-market rent, and it's come with some hassles but overall it has been a godsend. Other expenses like health insurance really add up -

I was going to comment that that evaluation seemed a little unfair, but lots of people have done exactly that. Gotta say I like the way this group rises above the snark.

The author makes that sound like a criticism. A site or service can be valuable without being "big". The thing that I like about Quora is that its easy to identify notable people, which is lacking from other sites. I think Quora could actua

Lots of little ui issues -- low contrast in places, boxes that don't quite line up. I'm reluctant to actually go in and try anything because I don't want to mess up the data your users already have there.

Yes, the cracker-thin, pub-cut pizzas. I never liked the pieces in the middle that had no crust to grab a hold of, so I was always battling for one of the edge pieces.

I grew up in Chicago and I don't like "Chicago-style" pizza either. I put that in quotes because no one called it that in Chicago, everyone always referred to it as deep dish.

You know what I would like? Google for my house. As in, I get a set of rfid tags that I can put on my keys, my remote, checkbook, or whatever. In the event I can't find something, I have a little device I can use to track down the missing i

I would also like a NAS, but I haven't picked out a specific model. I also want a PC Engine LT ( http://cgi.ebay.com/PC-ENGINE-LT-rare-game-still-working-con... ), but I can't really justify spending $600 on a toy I won't use that much.

I find that the low contrast between the text and the background make this site awfully difficult to read.

"Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking Jason personally, I just think his work values are wack. Correction, I think his values (or those that I can see by his public persona) are wack." Sounds like he actually is knocking him.

The amount of work he put in to the 'transaction' described in the article hardly seems worth it.

I just finished that one last night. Some of the interviews are better than others; Woz was probably my favourite. I found the stories of the failures most interesting, as they seemed to inspire the most reflection and have the best lessons

I go to McDonald's about once or twice a month. I get the same thing every time, a 5-piece Chicken selects meal combo. I choose this item because it requires the absolute minimal wait time. It costs $7.09 each time after tax. I put in $7.09

This article is a little disappointing. The writer brings up the obvious advantages to it, but doesn't say how he manages the technical risk of the activity (unplanned downtime).
