So 0.1% of people who don't have a burning desire for it should still write a book, which seems like a large amount of people to me. And there's not really a way to know if you're gifted and talented at writing, so just go

I would think that WASD movement would be very unintuitive for most people who don't play first person 3D games (although it would be nice for the minority who do expect it, and it shouldn't be too hard to implement either).

Not exactly the most reliable supporting evidence, but Veritasium has a video which talks about this stuff. https://youtu.be/j5v8D-alAKE?feature=shared

I agree with most of the points, but I'm surprised about the "lack of green spaces" you mentioned. From my experience, Europe has far more and better urban parks than what I have seen in the US. The general atmosphere of Euro

There's bias in pretty much every poll result, but I doubt the reason you provided has much of an effect. People who truly "love" flashing elements (I don't believe they exist) will just choose "I barely notice thes

Surely a false positive is better than a false negative right? Having such restrictive requirements for the call to activate seems like it'd do more harm than good.

In retrospect I probably shouldn't have made such a claim, since I really don't know much about Jordan Peterson and his views. Most of what I've seen is him motivating and trying to help young/lost men, which seems like

I love Pixel phones, but stuff like this does seem to be a recurring issue. Sometimes my phone turns off and on again when I only press the power button once. Not a huge dealbreaker, just a pain to constantly have to think about.

iirc HN has a rule/guideline to add [pdf] to the post title in that case, although it might not always be enforced

I think Jordan Peterson is doing a decent job at this though, his stance on helping young men is quite similar to Tate's, albeit less delusional.

It's a really annoying direction for Youtube to have gone in. What they _don't_ want you to do is just watch a few channels that you subscribe to and leave the website, so they force all this other stuff you didn't ask for in

Don't think there's a very good way to carry out these studies, this is just a catch-22. Either the participants are aware, and their bias could affect the results, or they're unaware, and they don't use the drug as real

Researchers are aware of the risks they're taking. Consumers (who don't really understand the dangers of the environment they're about to enter) just blindly trust that they're in good hands, and in this case it seems li

Because being able and willing to pay $8/month is supposed to be a green flag? The way I see it, if someone is willing to pay to offer free labor, they probably don't have very good intent.

I'm curious, does the 3% number for how (relatively) close you were to finishing the game come from hindsight, or did you know that number while in the process of making the game (and if so, how?)

I think their point makes a lot of sense, although they could have been less aggressive about it. Your reply, while interesting, would work better as a standalone comment and doesn't really relate to the thread.
