You seem to have a very low opinion of other people. If these miraculous collectors are so generally applicable, why are very smart people putting effort into things like Perseus?

> We have multiple open-source pauseleses miracles right there before our eyes Is this meaningfully true in a practical sense? I've been writing code with soft real-time requirements and I don't think your notion of "pause

I can't tell if this is bad for the big labs, or good because it means they now have an excuse for not showing meaningful progress in the lead ups to their IPOs.

Yeah, a lack of suits is not anywhere close to what the problem is here.

This is the "two r******s fighting" of founder/VC spats. A lot of founders have behavioral problems, certainly, but a lot of VCs are sociopaths. Both archetypes are well represented in this exchange.

The two main bills I'm aware of are the Decoupling America's AI Capabilities from China Act and No Adversarial AI Act. The former would have made it illegal for any American citizen to simply use DeepSeek. I couldn't find any

Let's leave aside the "smarter" part, since I made no claim to the effect and I don't think it's very relevant in the first place. Do you really not think that people like Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Dario Amodei ang

Anthropic has been angling for regulatory capture this entire time, to an even greater extent than OpenAI.

The default assumption when evaluating any statement from Anthropic (or OpenAI, or anyone else) should always be that they are either trying to juice their IPO, create the conditions for regulatory capture, or both.

The is a large middle ground between "aren't impressive" and "Claude can spit out billion dollar companies on demand".

I don't think one Claude can replace ten engineers of the caliber it takes to build a billion dollar company. I also don't think that every set of ten engineers of that level builds a billion dollar company every time. There is al

This is a separate mechanism. The user is not notified about the flagging and rather than redirecting to a weaker model, the response is intentionally sabotaged. It's user-hostile to the point of parody.

I don't doubt that the operation as a whole is a disaster, but they should be able to avoid the price increase by using one of the many other cheap models like DeepSeek V4 Flash right?

Is this because they've run into a wall? Are all of the labs that are behind where Anthropic is today expected to pause as well? It would be pretty funny to both announce an IPO and hit the "everyone pause" immediately after

The Party certainly isn't going to solve the replication crisis. It's just going to pressure researchers to publish a different set of unreplicable results.
