Thanks! Does this actually register profiles? I've had to do some FB development recently, and was really surprised (and annoyed) that I couldn't test my private application without having to register a new, public profile, where people cou

I don't think so. Apple are most likely wanting to concentrate on their core competency (making the iCloud product) and not have to worry about (more) data centers/storage/etc to support the product. As others mentioned it sounds like a goo

Another problem (which has made me completely give up television) is that the TV stations abruptly decide to stop broadcasting a show one week, move it to another time slot, and then just have no mention of it again.

You may find http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/ interesting (a developer at Microsoft who blogs about Windows internals). His books is a copy of his blog with just the internals blog posts.

This is really neat, definitely going to take a peek. My first application was written in VB6, was free, but downloaded hundreds of thousands of times and made it into PCmag magazine (6+ years ago now). VB6 got me started in programming and

I thought SSL pages/resources aren't cached like they would be normally under regular HTTP, so there would still be extra latency (for repeat visits) if you ever visited a website that required SSL everywhere (like say Github). Or is my ass

Don't worry too much. You don't need to get it "right" the first time. Just create a table as needed for each of your domain entities (eg like Customer, Product, ...) and iterate as necessary until you feel comfortable.

Thanks for the article. Have you considered writing a 'control' program that you can provide a list of mongo servers, and allow the control program to configure the replica sets etc? May help a little, it's something I would consider myself

Dropbox can decide what its servers/resources are used for, and allowing 'Dropship' to be used to transfer copyrighted files sounds like a problem they don't want - and neither would I, as a company owner. Legitimate users are not impacted

Note that you can only get up to 7 usable members in a RS (then you need to shard), see http://www.mongodb.org/display/DOCS/Replica+Sets+Limits I'm curious if you happen to use any monitoring to notice when load on your mongo servers gets
