I had no idea Google Takeout existed. Thanks. I backed up my Gmail over IMAP in the past but this looks far easier.

I spent weeks trying to stamp out a bug that turned out to be a signal integrity issue between the processor and DRAM. It was horrible. The bug would only happen after about 30 minutes and looked like memory corruption. I spent tons of time

Fun fact: Andromeda is the only object outside of the local Milky Way group that can be seen with the naked eye.

Just curious - are you worried about getting too coupled to the industry you work in? I try not to invest in tech since I work in tech. So a big downturn in tech would not only be bad for my job but also investments. Or would you possibly b

Sure, but isn't your assembley code going to look a lot like C code with atomics anyway as you use barrier or in order execution instructions (e.g., dmb on ARM or eieio on PPC)?

I disagree that a Raspberry Pi is "definitely not embedded". What if I had an ARM SoC (like in the RPi) running VxWorks or RTEMS controlling a missile? Few would argue that is not an embedded system. What if the RPi is running rea

I like that definition. I used to maintain a system most people would call true "embedded" - it was a PowerPC based VME system running VxWorks. The job of the system was to monitor some analog voltages, detect an unsafe condition,

Testing a big spacecraft is hard. With a cube sat, you can put it on an air beating and make sure something isn't catastrophically wrong, like the reaction wheels are backwards. You can't do that on a big spacecraft. So instead, t

Kalman filtering is very interesting. You are able to combine a bunch of inputs, of varying levels of uncertainty, along with a model of the system to arrive at an optimal estimation of the state.
