In the current situation with a few popular cryptos, you still have the exact same problem. Using ShapeShift to change BTC to ETC is going to charge a miner fee.

I suspect it is even older than 1550s. I'm a farmer with land who needs seed. Another farmer is willing to front me seed in exchange for grain in the fall. That is a contract.

Right, so could you recover from k/2 erasures with k/4 errors?

I thought Reed-Solomon also worked with a mix of erasures and errors? I wasn't aware of a requirement that erasures can't be corrected in the presence of errors unless you have hit the erasure limit for your chosen code.

Right. Just to elaborate, there is a difference between quality and quantity of heat. A red hot nail has high quality but low quantity. A hot bath has low quality but high quantity. Data center waste heat is like bath water.

The real cost is laying the last mile infrastructure. If it is fiber or coax, equipment upgrades may be needed in the future, but they are far cheaper than pulling new cable.

A reliable, long use rocket is not exactly new either. Delta II first launched in 1989, 153 launches, 151 successes. There will be another launching this fall for JPSS-1.

What "kind of guest" does this attract? I sometimes do this, especially in ski towns. I also sometimes negotiate at rural hotels to get a fade rate. Do hotels hate me?

Glass darkens from radiation exposure. Even UV does it, Coke bottles at old high altitude mines in Colorado turn a purple color.

Rounding behavior is important for more than medical imaging and physics simulations. Many embedded systems controlling or sensing something in the real world care about it. Not just things like cars and planes, but imagine control loops de

The future of OpenGL is most likely OpenGL ES. You might want to try OpenGL ES 2.0 Programming Guide (or OpenGL ES 3.0 Programming Guide). It is far less daunting than the OpenGL Superbible. The differences between OpenGL ES 2 and 3 are sma

That makes sense for how you could do a retrograde burn. Since for GEO the debris will be fixed or nearly fixed, I guess there always a horizon point by longitude. Seems like lots of extra atmosphere for the laser to go through.

A space weather problem would be a single event upset. Something got flipped to the wrong state and could have burned up (e.g., power electronics). You protect designs against this with circuit design but can't use shielding. Shielding

How does an Earth based laser bring something closer to Earth with radiatipn pressure rather than pushing it further away? And how does that work in GEO? The typical disposal method there is to go up to a graveyard orbit, not down to the at

BSPs weren't new to the Quake engine (Doom had them). Gouraud shading, lighting, and TCP/IP multiplayer are what made Quake revolutionary for the PC. These things existed on SGIs costing $100k for years before too. The optimizatio

I have always hated HD Radio from the pedantic standpoint that "definition" describes images and "fidelity" should describes audio.

100 lbs is useless without height. So you wouldn't consider a 6' 3" person weighing 130 lbs skinny? I think the usual definition would be underweight (or near the low side of underweight) in a BMI sense.

I think digging into the code for 2 hours solo is very important. If you still can't find it, ask a senior dev. Actually being familiar with the code is important to be able to nail down how things work abstractly to the actual impleme
