You're 1.) implying that Amazon isn't actively trying to fix it (otherwise they would be "walking the walk") and 2.) that it's a widespread issue (all I've heard about counterfeit products are from a few HNers)

Easy small wins are better than no wins. The goal should be improvement not perfection.

Honestly wondering what benefit for business chat that Slack has over IRC for software devs?

I don't even own a car in Seattle. It's clearly not a necessity as I, my fiancé, and several of our friends are all careless and do just fine. If anything its drivers that do stupid stuff like block bus lanes, don't know how

Ironically enough I was never asked about DFS during my interview but needed it for the first thing I worked on after getting hired.

I'd be very very interested in hearing why you invested everything into Tesla. Was your decision based on cold rational logic? Or was it simply "from the gut"?

I think you might be missing the assumptions here. No service I've ever seen is 100% available. If you assume that things can (and will!) fail then you need to design for failure. Load shedding helps mitigate failures of insufficient c

Easy. Politicians love campaign contribution bribes and ISPs see that bribe cost as minimal compared to the amount of money they stand to make. No citizens required, needed, or wanted to make this easy, easy decision.

That subreddit seems like the mods are employees. They literally have SpaceX job listings on the sidebar! Perhaps it's got good discussion but I'd be willing to bet it's probably heavily censored too.

I'd consider myself average at best and got job offers to two of those companies. I still work at one of them and have been promoted (so I can't be that terribly bad). Honestly, reading cracking the coding interview and the algori

I don't think it's a straw man at all. Some people are wonderful at manipulation and organization on the internet. Certain places on 4chan are wonderful when it comes to organizing people. The causes they take up are mostly morall

8%? You either live very close to (or under) the poverty line or are fabulously wealthy. I'm assuming that you're rich since you mentioned tax shelters. TurboTax put my effective tax rate this year at 26%.
