Have you looked at tools such as Delphi, Lazarus etc and the approach used to build GUI components which can be added at build time or at runtime? If you are interested in talking about this, do let me know.

Absolutely. I actually prefer a combination of declarative + imperative code similar to how it is in Delphi/Lazarus. The overall layout of the GUI is designed using a GUI designer and this gets saved as a "form" in a resource

My recommendation: try Delphi/Lazarus. It is trivial to develop new GUI components in Delphi/Lazarus and there are already very good GUI component libraries for Lazarus available as packs.

Not just that. If you don't have farming going on - and it often requires subsidies to keep it going - even Netherlands have subsidised agriculture, your food security will just disappear. I am not sure why people don't seem to un

Across the world agriculture is subsidised.. even in poorer countries, because the cost of doing agriculture is very high. Farmers are moving to other jobs, selling their farmlands etc.. this will put huge pressure on food supplies and so t

Absolutely. Java development is ridiculously easy compared to many of the alternatives.. in some senses, it is actually even easier to develop in than PHP especially since Java is statically compiled.

For the past several years, the Java enterprise development is very, very easy compared to the mess that is node.js nonsense. And if you are not happy with the JEE environment, you can continue to use frameworks like micronaut, quarkus etc.

100x is nothing these days. Now the ratio is 399:1 or thereabouts.. and often even higher. Of course, there is no perfect ratio - but there is a point at which it becomes obscene. It varies from organization to organization.

Very interesting. I think this explains a lot of the magic that happens under the surface in the frontend frameworks. I quite like the approach you are using to avoid a build step and also zero dependencies.

I think this is a larger discussion and not limited to just a conversation about the pay a CEO gets. Well, of course, a CEO's pay is indicative of what board considers as the CEO's contribution towards the bottomline/topline

Actually, it turns out that it is even worse than 399:1. It is as much as 604:1 in the US. https://www.newswise.com/politics/widening-wage-gap-between-... It is indicative that the boards and the CEOs are extremely sel

I do see the value in paying high performing individuals but there has to be some moderation even in that. The CEO pay gap is now obscene. The CEO pay gap in the US was 399x that of the average worker! that is ludicrous! What that means is

I can't imagine property being so cheap - that too in the US. Here in India where I reside, you wouldn't be able to get even a 100sq.ft of open land for that price.

I have handled far more complex cases than this using desktop based GUI apps in a client-server model before the word AJAX etc was even invented. Example: dependent dropdowns or even tables with row-selection leading to more detailed views.

It is ridiculously easy to setup a full CRUD environment in frameworks such as Yii. It is as simple and selecting some options on a screen and then clicking on a button. The example below is from 7 years ago! https://www.youtube.

This is how flet.dev handles state and UI. Note how simple this is vs the crap that is the standard way of managing state in flutter: By the way, flet.dev is actually using Flutter for rendering!! def main(page: ft.Page): page.title = &

PHP 8 is a vast improvement over PHP 5. Also, the frameworks have become much better - I especially love the Yii framework as well as the Codeigniter framework if you are looking at a Rails replacement.

I would use the PHP Yii framework - it has generation of CRUD, controllers, models etc.. and excellent customisability.
