Kotlin doesn't really have true reified generics (any more than e.g. Scala has), Java 8 has first class lambdas, extension methods and @Nullable now. Kotlin is just Java 8 with cleaner syntax.

This is happening currently as well, even with very sophisticated remote car keys in cars from 2016-2017. Most modern systems have exploitable vulnerabilities and thieves are probably the first to learn them.

A person with this skill set would not be the same who do burglary. More likely, burglars would just license the software / hardware for disabling alarms the similar way how car thieves probably do this now. I doubt car thieves are sec

Gradle has a daemon, but I have some doubts if it really keeps scalac hot in memory. Last time I tried Gradle was weirdly slow with scala incremental compilation, while SBT worked like a breeze. As for compiling 200k LOC - just split it in

You get much better compile times if you keep scala compiler running in daemon mode (in SBT or IDEA; AFAIK Gradle can't do this yet), so it gets more benefits from JVM HotSpot. It makes a tremendous difference (up to 10x) on larger cod

C++ exceptions definitely come at some non-zero cost, albeit very small on the happy path, both in terms of runtime and code size. RTTI also comes at a cost of higher memory footprint, but more importantly relying on RTTI is a sign of bad d

You can have safe updates through clustering columns or if you really insist on destructive updates - through LWTs. With clustering columns you can easily achieve whatever is possible with vector clocks. http://www.datastax.com&#

Using timestamps and last write wins is a well known and well documented behavior, so you must assume updates can be sometimes applied in a different order than they were submitted. However, reordering updates is not the same as rolling bac

Kotlin can't abstract over optional types. Scala Option is a monad which let's you do plenty of cool and useful stuff that Kotlin can only dream of. Kotlin solution is actually more complex, because it is baked into the language
