Seriously, you should not use tires older than 10 years. They degrade over time.

I confirm and that’s an unpleasant surprise. Already had to replace the rear rotors and pads on my Highlander… because of rust. They should add some “brake cleaning” mode to temporarily disable regenerative braking.

Another part of the point is that you can pack a much smaller and more efficient ICE and then substitute the missing power and torque from electric motors when needed. Most cars are not used at max power all the time. You need max power onl

But series-parallel has the very same advantage - can keep the RPM in sweet spot.

The stuff on aliexpress is not low quality. I mean, some for sure is if you look for the cheapest items, but there is plenty of solid quality stuff there as well.

The thing is, you paid for that in the price which is often 3x more for the same thing you could get on Aliexpress. I bought plenty of stuff on Aliexpress and I had issue only once when I got something different than I ordered. Overall even

> Truth be told when your starting out you don't really need amazing gear. Amazing probably not, but you also don’t want the cheapest and crappiest gear especially when you’re starting. A pro can usually workaround the limitations,

Go is a great target for LLM because it needs so much boilerplate and LLMs are good at generating that.

Rust has been shown by Google to not be any less productive than other mainstream languages though.

The fact something goes to heap doesn’t necessarily mean it needs more heap allocations. I’ve had it many times that I instantiated a new object on heap and had to pass cloned arguments to it (because it had to own them), yet they ended up

Cloning doesn’t imply heap allocation. Depends on the type.

But it doesn’t confirm improving the speed of the compiler at all. Looks like the trend is flat. This comment from Odersky also says that Dotty was not automatically faster than 2.12: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=168

It is minimalist because it has to support many platforms and must be lightweight and easy to port. It also must be stable for a long time. Once something lands in the standard library, it is very hard to remove / modify / redesig

That's not a big offense to Scala, honestly. It's easy to be worse than Rust. Rustc in my experience is an extremely well optimized compiler, only second to Go. It beats pure Java with Maven / Gradle as well. It gets bad repu

Yet it's Go that added big language features recently (generics, iterators, changing semantics of for loop) and not Rust. Rust hasn't gotten any new major features since adding async ~7 years ago. Rust is much more stable language

1. Rust has had 10x better tooling right from the start. Cargo vs SBT, no joke. 2. Rust has improved its compiler performance by >3x in the last 5 years. 3. Rust hasn't gotten any major new language feature in the last 6 years. Most

If it fails intermittently it’s very likely caused by cracked solder joints or dried out capacitors in the power supply. I bet this GE control board could be fixed cheaply - if it was old, it might even not use a switching mode power suppl

Rapid flashing is usually an indicator of a LED failure, not the driver. In my experience (and I fixed many LEDs), drivers almost never fail - it’s always the diodes, dying from too much heat.

Yes, even expensive Phillips LEDs heat up to 100 C. There is no way they could last the designed 50000h at that temp.
