I tried entering "Marty Feldman" as a search query. Unfortunately, the responses don't show movie titles, but I couldn't spot him in the few that I tried. "The Sting" was one movie that I could identify. Needs

There are two challenges -- one is getting a sensitive enough camera to be able to record meteors. The Sony 'starlight' sensors have the required sensitivity. The next is to handle the data stream from the camera and to extra the

The meteors go in the direction from darker to white. So the white part of the trail is the lowest and last part of the trail. Nearly all meteors do not actually impact the ground -- they burn up in the atmosphere. However, sometimes you ge

Unclear what the relationship is with the Global Meteor Network ( https://globalmeteornetwork.org/ ) that has people build meteor cameras, often based on RPis, and then contribute the data so that meteor orbits can be determi

Interviewees rightly complain that whiteboard coding exercises are unfair -- some people don't perform under pressure. A take home exercise is the solution for that. Make it time boxed (say 2 hours) and the interviewee can use any reso

The article is misleading. You can just implement SRS on your personal domain and it will work just fine. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sender_Rewriting_Scheme for an overview of how it works.

As far as I can make out, SRS is actually the solution to the forwarding problem that the linked article is complaining about. Yes, it is a pain to setup, but it is quite doable. I also forward email sent to my domain to gmail.

I felt it in Mass -- I was working on the second floor. My wife was on the ground floor and didn't feel it. From our internal slack channel, this seems fairly common -- people on the ground floor don't feel it here in MA, but high

Actually I'm more interested in the game board. If a space has (say) 3 mines next to it, then the numeral 3 will appear (as today). However, when I add a flag next to it, then the count should go down to 2 -- i.e. the number is always

Yes -- that is right. Back in those days, you could build the linux kernel from scratch on a laptop with 16MB of memory! I used to commute (on a weekly basis) from Boston to NYC, and you could build and boot and test a kernel between taking

This is sad news. I worked (a little bit) with him when I added the adjtime system call to linux back in the 0.99 days.... He built stuff that worked and is run everywhere. That is a great legacy. He will be remembered.

I'd pcap a bunch of the traffic -- in particular the DNS requests -- that will tell you where it is connecting. Hopefully it is using TLS, and then the SNI headers can give you more information. I run a local DNS resolver and so I capt

At the start of my career (late 70s), I worked at IBM (Hursley Park) in Product Assurance (their version of QA). We wrote code and built hardware to test the product that was our area of responsibility (it was a word processing system). We

MQTT is the solution for this. Note that the garage door openers talk MQTT to the myq service (over TLS with preshared keys). It should be possible to subscribe to events from your garage door opener(s) and also to send commands to it.
