Those of us involved in offshore projects already know the feeling.

Yeah, difference being that now similar projects don't need as many devs, and there aren't enough customers to keep everyone else busy.

Usually you don't have an option other than leaving, most organisations don't let seniors keep coding and nothing else. Either move up the ladder or leave.

It is hardly any different from reviewing or debugging the code quality of most offshore deliveries.

It is quite similar to architecture work when others in the team do the actual coding, and lead devs / architects only have time to try out prototypes. Only now instead of local or offshore devs, it is agents.

If it solves the business case. A proper engineer would actually recognise that should be NEWP in 2026.

That depends on the quality of the degree. I was well served on my Software Engineering degree, coupled with the trader school in computing I went during high school. Then naturally seniority teaches office politics, and what to actually in

I have already seen the real impact on delivery team sizes, no need to hear to what people are saying about what AI can do or not. Translation and asset creation team members, gone. Amount of FE reduced, with some projects having now a sing

Nope, only those without a degree that cannot do anything else, e.g. the bricklayers on a building. Real engineering has always been about talking with the multiple parties, organising architecture meetings, taking down requirements, if no

Eventually it will be consistent enough to go straight into Assembly. Until then languages have lost relevance for the most part, it is a matter to configure the model for the desired output language. This in workflows that require generati

I completely lost interest. It is already enough that I am expected to use AI at work, as long as I am still needed for some reason.

I keep telling that folks shipping Chrome forks and Electron junk have helped Google turn the Web into ChromeOS Platform. And then they complain about Safari. Had it been today, and Google would have no issue pushing for PNaCL.

Quite different from over here, as mentioned it is a plain membership. Getting permission for jobs is required in many cases without any union having anything to do with it, you have to get them regardless. Finalising high-school without go

Nah, you are on a trolling vibe. All you need to do is clarify the first post on the thread with documentation. Sometimes I do miss these Usenet like rounds.

Why should the age play a role at all in unions? In European unions you pay the membership and that is it. On top of that many apply to complete industry sectors, they are not tied to specific jobs and don't care one second how you got

Nope, that is the US model of anti unions. Unions have saved my ass multiple times in the European countries I worked on.

Except everything that matters is Objective-C and Swift. Android is great dragging devs screaming into modern computing, from Xerox PARC ideas. Apparently you missed the part that Apple has already deprecated POSIX APIs like the usage of so

You definitely do, unless you are stuck in Windows XP view of computing world. It is like using ReactOS instead. All Windows APIs since Vista are delivered via COM. How much Windows development are you doing actually? Not that much apparen

While the Oracle hate boils, Zig, Rust,... aren't much different. There is also the approach of Microsoft putting AI all over the place on .NET, and CoPilot driven development all over the place.

You're missing who defines the language standard. You're free to do whatever you feel like on your implementation, including not being compliant with the official language standard.
