Up to the Nyquist limit, a digital signal will completely recreate the original signal, with no square wave steps. Digitisation does not result in square wave output anywhere in the output chain. Chris Montgomery (of Ogg / Speech /

A search engine that only searched sites that wikipedia links to might be a fairly decent source in fact. If monetisable, it would turn gaming wikipedia into a whole new level of shitshow of course.

This is not my experience - my Pixel 4a takes < 1s to go from tapping on the Camera icon to seeing a camera image on screen. No shutter lag either. There’s something wrong with your phone. Try resetting it maybe?

Yes, BUSD & USDC have regular attestations that their holding of USD in bank accounts backed by the US government & US treasuries are real. Tether on the other hand has invested mostly in commercial credit, who’s counterparty they d

IIRC part of the explanation is length limits put on European trucks (so that they will be able to navigate the tighter design standards of the EU road network I believe) which make the cab-over design (where the driver sits above the engin

Except that, as far as I can tell at least, Amos is not the one posting these articles. The problem is that he’s writing interesting, informed commentary on topics that are hot button issues for people who are a tad over-sensitive about the

If you’re transacting with a bunch of people that you do not trust then the payment rails are the least of your problems. Your comment just feels like typical crypto-booster vague handwaving to me - can you give an actual example of such a

You could just run an unrooted LineageOS? What exactly are you getting out of a rooted phone that you couldn’t get with a straight LineageOS install?

Doubling interest rates doesn’t double the cost of a repayment mortgage. If you’re buying on an interest-only mortgage then you’re very exposed to interest rate rises though.

30 fixes only exist in the US thanks to government intervention in the mortgage market to underwrite that risk for the banks. In most western countries, fixed mortgages do exist, but the bank has to go out and buy the relevant interest rate

If you hold your stocks in a tax exempt account then you don’t really care about this though. Pension funds, ISAs in the UK, etc etc; most countries have something similar. The vast majority of individual savers will not exceed the limits p

For some reason people in the US are obsessed with changing the oil in their vehicle. Modern engines & oils don't need the oil changing every 3000 miles, but the folklore belief in the necessity of doing so rolls on unstoppably in

This is pretty much what the US did to itself in the first place - bulldozed half the cities in the country to make them car centric. There’s no reason you can’t do the same thing in reverse. Buildings are not actually all that permanent (e
