We can already end all life on earth, that’s nothing new. Transmissible vaccines are also nothing new, the original small pox vaccine did that. I don’t understand where this new fear is coming from?

I really hope that something like this might help save some lives in the COVID hotspots from lack of oxygen. The boast about this being the only article using AC is bugging me a bit though, because the AC is being fed through a bridge recti

For me, agile (in the scrum/standup sense that you mean) is a huge red flag because it’s used as a cover for micromanagers. The kind of low-trust environment that needs micromanaging might sometimes be warranted if the team is unfit bu

This does look like a very good first chair if you’re just starting out. After getting something like this, the next one we should all try is a stool or drafting chair. It puts your legs at a better angle for blood to flow right or somethin

I’m still struggling with that! My take so far is that either Business Insider doesn’t understand crypto yet, or, they do and just thought it was funny too?

It was the original Battlefield that really drove this point home for me. If everyone can get at least one kill per death, your team will win. So if there is a war, there can’t ever be more than a 50/50 chance of me making it home aliv

All of these things hit for me but it’s really that last sentence that I was trying to focus on. Being able to feel this kind of addiction taking hold and switching gears is very, very important. And not just for games, being able to put do

There’s no doubt in my mind that we won’t all eventually be vegans. From a long-term view, bringing cows onto a space ship is a waste of rocket fuel. From a more short-term view, Beyond and Impossible will keep getting better and cheaper. T

I think the danger is memes, right? Their fitness is in how often people forward or upvote, not how helpful it is. Antivaxing is a meme, for example. What does it look like to have meme antibodies though? Are they just stronger memes pointi

By “vote who wins”, you mean when the weaker players will team up against the stronger player to have a better chance of winning? Or something more like being accepted into a good guild gets you onto good raid teams which gets you better ge

All of the more senior engineers I know who have kids are taking a break right now. The pandemic means that both work and family need more time than normal. I think it’s about 25% more time needed on the job for same results and about 50% m

This thought feels a bit like a generalized version of that quote on ads: > Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is I don't know which half. But swap out money for time: “Half the time I spend is wasted; th

I’m about 5 months into my first big break (after 10 years without one) and I didn’t really start to recover until about 3 months in. I’m still not quite recovered but have recently started coding again, which I think is great progress. Doi

That’s actually a very generous budget. With the requirements you have, I was expecting something in the 100-200 range! For used gear, check out eBay, Kijiji and Facebook Marketplace. Old desktops will probably need to be dusted and re-past

I think the closest thing right now is actually Fortnite. For how crazy it sounds when Tim Sweeney talks about Fortnite as a platform, I think it's as close as we've come yet. The early game is all about grinding up your gear. Loo

From the empirical side of that too, for all the media attention anti-vaxers seem to get, I’ve yet to actually meet one. The scary part isn’t so much that they’re common, more so that there’s just enough of them to cause a problem. So if th

My favourite part of C2 is how you can see all the edit wars littered around the text. Like this one here near the top: > put N objects in a hash table using sequential integers [1..N] as their keys. TclLanguage makes you do this. LOL.

I’ve noticed this before too! I think it’s because spaces are just lazier. Tabs might be more flexible but they do take a bit more effort. Someone who puts more effort than needed into one thing won’t stop at tabs.

Sarcasm comes out when a team is very healthy or very sick. It’s either a trust-fall game that brings everyone together or a way to ask a question without having it said in a low-trust environment. If you can’t tell if someone’s joking, tha
