This is a pet peeve of mine, and makes me want to scream every time I see some click bait about how much better roman concrete was. If their concrete was so great, where are the ruins of the toman skyscrapers?!? :)

Did you have a pretty good idea that this was the case before sending them to TI? Hardware design fascinates me and I'm just curious how something like this goes down.

I agree; this offer doesn't seem malicious. At the very least the guy could have been scrapping them for beer money.

You know, I think this is the first article I've seen on working for Tesla (or SpaceX, for that matter) that has been wholly positive. Most of the time its more "They work you like hell and I have no life outside of work, but damn

What is it with banks and their annoyingly terrible "security" requirements? My old bank once sent me an email saying I had to reset my password. The email seemed legit, but upon following the link therein something didn't se

I am consistently impressed by the features Stripe puts out. They always seem well thought-out and implemented. Usually makes me wish I was still running an ecommerce site so I could actually use them!

At this point I could take this to mean that you're arguing for safe spaces. While creating an "effective learning environment" sounds noble, some students seem to be interpreting this to mean they shouldn't have to hear

I admire your openness about this. I never used Imzy, but I definitely saw the appeal. Its unfortunate things didn't work out. I'm curious; Knowing what you know now, do you think you could have made it work? Basically, how much o

I don't disagree. But I wonder if the reason it was a ghost town when people reinstalled the app was precisely because it took a month for all the users to hear about it via word of mouth. If they had been able to send an email blast o

Well, they blocked the app on all US middle- and high-school campuses so it couldn't be used for bullying. But past that I wouldn't call it a rampant problem. If anything the anonymous factor prevented harassment within the app, b

I wouldn't at all blame the VC's for this. Yak killed their own app overnight by taking the main feature that made it popular - the fact that it was anonymous - and making an about-face to suddenly require usernames (and strongly

Not to mention the menu. I'm a (lower) middle-class white dude and when I hear that their burger is a "combination of ground beef, tofu, barley, quinoa, and seaweed" I definitely think it's not my kind of restaurant. I c

I'm reminded of an article [0] posted on HN last year about "McDonald’s [being] de-facto community centers". Perhaps difference is that Locol has a 'mission' and is thus seen as a sort of charity, whereas McDonald&#

I was curious what they normally charge for the device/service; according to a price list[0] I found from last year, the body cams are $399, the docking stations are $249, and the Evidence.com license is $948/yr (though I'm n

They most definitely do. I worked for a company that had unsuccessfully tried to get amazon to carry their products. Eventually, one of their smaller retailers (that already did a lot of FBA) put the product up as an FBA item, and it sold r

Definitely true. My parents recently went on vacation to a US city that isn't exactly the safest (IMO). Their hotel didn't offer an airport shuttle, and they've been burned by taxi drivers in the past. I explained the concept
