s/Unbelievably great/Insanely great/ Edit: Watched the linked video. It appears the iPad was introduced as merely "unbelievably great" as opposed to "insanely great" like the Mac.

My 13" Macbook Air serves me well as my primary development and design workstation. For purely development, I would love to use an 11" Air, but Photoshop is a bit too cramped on it. My 27" display gets used for watching movies mostly these

A pretty balanced review of the two search engines. I have had DuckDuckGo as my main search engine for almost a year now. I still find myself using the google bang (g!) for a significant percentage of searches. However, I don't find typing

The hype is to spin the shortcomings into a positive. The app feels and looks like a typical web app clunker. This might be a developer win, but it is a user loss.

Talk about short sighted. Editing text does not exclusively mean writing code or long documents. I and many others do a large chunk of casual web browsing, email, and messaging from iOS devices. Having better cursor movement to go back and

Cheesy but entertaining in that magical 80s way. The last line really stood out to me though: "For... [Apple] have on their side, the most powerful weapon on Earth, an idea, whose time has come." A simple statement that describes the launch

I started using DuckDuckGo for its position on privacy, but that is just one reason of many to use it now. I have more than a few ideas for hacks, after reading the very nice tutorial. Look forward to playing with it.

This. The Apple wireless keyboard solution adds no baggage to the iPad itself, is very portable, and the compact height of the keyboard allows stacking the keyboard and iPad vertically on your lap or flat surface (meaning touch gestures don

Great analogy between a designer's idea of "taste", and the engineers equivalent "elegance". To take it further, just as the shortest code isn't always the best, the most minimal design is also not best by default.

Same here. I have always preferred native mail clients (originally Thunderbird, and now Mail.app on OS X/iOS).

I too cannot wait for true AR. I have been dreaming about making AR apps for the iPhone since it was released, but have never found satisfactory solutions to the positioning issues. Can't wait to play a real world RPG, with GPS used for th

When the iPhone SDK was released, I got serious about learning Objective-C and Xcode. It was a slow painful process, but now I strongly prefer writing native apps to doing front end web development. The Cocoa and Cocoa Touch frameworks are

Perhaps, try an alternate method of learning. Drop the course load, and instead think of some ideas that you really want to see happen (doesn't matter how trivial, or whether it has already been done). Then go make it happen. Along the way

I love Coffeescript and Backbone, but was on the fence about trying to build a Javascript only app using Node.js on the server. This looks a bit more interesting to me as it seems like a truly modern web framework, that may actually make we

You can use iTunes as well. Click on the Radio item under Library on the left pane, and you will find the DI radio stations under the Electronica genre.

From watching his older live coding sessions, I am guessing it is one of the stations on DI radio ( http://www.di.fm/ ). Ambient Space Music, Chillout Dreams, and PsyChill happen to be personal favorite stations of mine to code to.

And beautifully, both interpretations are applicable to Steve. His early success with Apple could be attributed to a beginner's mind. Later, his ability to come back and rescue the company could only be the work of an expert.

Hopefully the distribution of this indie version will be unconventional and disruptive - in true Steve form. Even better if that leads to it outshining the Sony Pictures version.

At those prices, and with the locations being right next to each other, I would buy 1 slice from each! Best of both worlds (or less bad from any single world). A worthy slice is $4 here!

I haven't put in the time to become fluent in reading Dotsies (Dotsie?) yet, but find it fascinating. I can imagine a multitouch keyboard made for Dotsies, that could be quite a bit more efficient once learned. Has any research been done on

This is the schedule I naturally tend to as well. I usually wake up at around 4 pm, then spend the remainder of the day just hanging out, doing some chores and wasting time on the internet. In the evening I go out to dinner or a bar, and th
