Are we to outlaw everything that has an uncertain impact on jobs? Last time I checked lots of things have unknown or unpredictable effects.

Brilliant. Whirring disk noise is nice touch. If AI generated this is what the AI revolution is all about. Can we get a cross platform screensaver?

A rose by any name would smell as sweet. Devops or SRE roses smell like sysadmins to me.

This is just vague speculation. Cancers that kill their hosts (or viruses) don't survive if its too quick. Developers that killed their sysadmins just got a 2nd job as sysadmins. AI would have to invent humans as their slaves to run AI

Absolutely true. On domains I am an SME it fails miserably and tells me popular half truths. But after steering towards correction it can be accurate. I tell it not to be confident sounding if the conclusion is not strong. Sadly commercial

I tell it to examine both sides or find flaws with a position. I try not to lead it to my preferred conclusion. Bad info can be mitigated by asking for human sources and citations. Make the bot work for you.

Absurd. AI needs humanity like developers needs sysadmins. Humans are the geese that laid the golden AI egg. Simple fear mongering wrapped in a technological tone. I don't buy it at all.

I stay sharp by using AI to explore things I don't know. Kinda works. Helps if you enjoy testing unusual ideas.

I can do a nice task with AI but can't easily schedule it. Enterprise controls make what could be a simple cron job into a nearly impossible scheduled task. So AI has to be one shot for me where I use it. So productivity is dramaticall

I thought the regular Tesla's were getting mileage data for the taxis. Inventing a new taxi and throwing away the data is starting over? Why not taxi the existing supposedly made for self driving cars and utilize their data? Makes no s

So then why aren't bad decision making execs being let go? If they can't forecast demand or headcount they should be replaced by confident sounding AI.

The lady in the article was a $500k/yr exec, not an illustrator. Neither was her husband iirc. Layoffs are usually across teams not "illustrators and translators". AI isn't killing jobs.

Big company layoffs are probably more aligned with offshoring than AI, but they'll never admit it. Zuckerbergs 8 billion dollar VR metaverse flop has something to do with this maybe? Last time I checked AI isn't killing jobs if th
