Those clauses exclude those licenses from some very important definitions of free/open-source software. For example they would fail the Desert Island Test for the Debian Free Software Guidelines.

The iPhone 17 (with the A19) notoriously doesn't have USB 3 - only the iPhone 17 Pro (with the A19 Pro) does

The A19 doesn't have USB 3, does it? I suspect Apple didn't want to release a laptop where its only I/O ports are 480Mbps USB 2.

`pip install` either doesn’t work out of the box or has the chance to clobber system files though

I developed Node.js applications 10 years ago on a 2009 MacBook Pro with 5GB of RAM, and it was only a little tight on memory. 8GB _should_ be enough for moderate complexity development, but everything has become more and more memory-hungry

I suspect Asahi Linux would appreciate work to support A18 Macs as well!

Not only that, but we have currently functioning distribution networks for pox vaccines. AIUI, the MPox vaccine is just a smallpox vaccine that happens to also work for MPox.

Ultimately it shouldn’t be too surprising that the machine that works by generating the most statistically likely text, generates text that’s statistically identical to human-generated text

Young people's brains have always been mush, according to the older generation. Your brain is mush according to those older than you. The term for this is juvenoia, and it's as old as humanity.

Exciting! VulkanMod gives such drastic performance improvements, but it isn't compatible with most other mods. It'll be great to be using Vulkan with a full modpack in the future

The UK has common law: the outcomes of previous court cases and the arguments therein determine what the law is. It’s important that court records be public then, because otherwise there’s no way to tell what the law is.

Mapped but unused memory is imaginary (at least, on modern UNIX systems). It's not actually using any physical RAM.

I had a backpack stolen from me at Zurich HB. The police sent a car out on the freeway to chase the train the thieves were on, and nabbed them at the next station. The thieves tossed the clothes I had in the bag, but I got my laptop back
