As I see it Roslings optimism stems from looking at changes over tens of years and the progress that’s visible on these timescales.

Is "it takes more time" a fundamental reason why we could not scale traditional banking to 8b people? I am not convinced.

Doesn't trust here only apply to things happening 100% within the chain? Such that a currency created and traded only on a blockchain is trustworthy because everything is traceable on the chain. A bit like software without IO being qui

Really interesting, a very similar case has recently been reported in Berlin, Germany [1]. Here the fraudsters tried to get legal ownership of a whole apartment building in Berlin. It seems they nearly made it, but then some insurance compa

Communication is dependent on context. If two people do not share any context, nothing will be unambiguous. As sender it's impossible to know the context off all recipients beforehand.

Isn't the point of most/all big NASA projects to distribute as much money as possible into a specified number of states? Kind a hard then to get political backing to move to a quicker + cheaper project.

I would be even more concerned about licensing and copyright at this point. We might see some interesting legal discussions around this, given you probably (I did not check the terms) give consent to Github using your code for other purpose

This looks really fantastic. Is anyone working on let's name it CookHub already? So essentially GitHub for receipts. The nerd in me wants to fork receipts and share my small adaptations to the community.

A tragedy, and showing a lack of ethics on the company side. But frankly, the bigger problem is not the company ethics - (big) companies rarely have them - but the lack of an employer independent healthcare.

The more interesting problem, how do they handle the 3% who did not consent? - Do they eat in a different hall? - Do they have to wear Harry Potter like cloaking devices? - Or more like Ku Klux Klan hoodies?
