But they are extremely bad with their thermals and Intel is way slower than whatever AMD is pushing right now. The thing is Apple just made quite mediocre hardware. And now they're back where the competition is.

You should compare it to other than the old Apple laptops. The Ryzen models, such as ThinkPad T14 are very fast, and if you want to go tenfold from there, there is no comparison with the modern Ryzen desktop CPUs. Why Apple always failed wi

Thank you for Pebble! It was my main Diabetes app for seeing the current blood glucose directly from my wrist until my Pebble 2 finally died a year ago. It was almost like magic and had a week of battery life. The commercial matrix bridge i

I've been in the past few nights trying to build my own Matrix server with integrations to Signal, WhatsApp, Telegram, IRC, Slack et.al. It is quite a lot of work, even with the Ansible script. First was the DNS SRV record, that is nee

LXD is great. I've had it for a while in OpenWRT, but never on a CoW filesystem. Does LXD also utilize snapshots like jails do on ZFS to save some disk space? I have now only pihole running on LXD and it's ok.

I found jails kind of accidentally. A few years back I built a NAS at home and wanted to run ZFS on it, so FreeBSD was an obvious choice. I soon found out how easy it is to create and manage jails: you just start a new one from a template,

How is Linux with it now in 2021. I'm currently not needing a new laptop, having the T25 and just replaced a US keyboard to it, it'll be great for the next 10-15 years. But, if I need a laptop from the company, I'd definitely

Not when running Wireguard client in it. Without I get 1 Gbps, but when having Wireguard on, we peak at 300 Mbps, loads between 3 to 5 and the CPU temperature goes above 100 degrees. I put the system now to a spot where it kind of has lots

Turris Omnia is supposedly one of these routers. I have their old model from a few years back, and it's been serving quite well for all my needs. The OS is their custom version of OpenWRT, and you can do stuff like LXC, Wireguard and a

I guess Windows doesn't break their compatibility almost ever. Linux doesn't break user-space, but of course the libraries you depend on might change in a few decades.
