Fine-tuning is pretty cheap compared to the original training run - perhaps just 1% of the cost. Totally within reach of a consortium of.... "entertainment specialists".

It's only worth investing once you've really secured it against the other side retaking it. I don't think the Donbass was ever secure against being retaken. Hence no investment. It's still strategically valuable, becau

I assume the wire is very very thin to keep it light. That means it probably breaks down in the environment after a few years - with the time mostly depending on what type of enamel it's coated in.

I wonder if these electric ferries have diesel backup systems? A little 100 horsepower backup engine wouldn't use much space/weight/cost, but would still be enough to get the ship slowly home in case of other failures. Th

With a bit of practice, you can nail this too. The trick is to have a few seconds you can add or remove with some comment/fact which you can leave out for timing. You'll often do it in regular conversation with people - if you&#

Is there any decision in a replacement for fuel tax? Fuel tax is 'worth' a lot more than car tax (VED) for the typical motorist in the UK. And taxing electricity for use in cars is much harder logistically.

I found HN front-page to still be less than about 1 user action per second. Ie. Pageload. That means if your site loads fast, you typically won't ever be serving more than a single user at once, so unless you're serving it on a b

They love to debit any linked bank accounts to pay any fees or clawback any money so they can freeze it. And PayPal requires you link an account for verification now. So it isn't really practical to use it as you describe - you're

The work life balance really isn't the best. It's pretty lonely, and any friends you do make always are short lived.

The control IC is running at 250Mhz. Does that mean the fault timings are limited to 4 nanosecond granularity? Is that enough to make a reliable attack? Is anything done to sync with the startup and locking of the host clock PLL, since th

The built in peripheral works up to about 100 MHz. Beyond that you use the third/fifth/seventh harmonic. Because the pi is notionally outputting a square wave, there are plenty of high powered harmonics to use, and from a signal-

In the case of PiFM, the clock generator is being operated out of spec by a wide margin - it is rated for operation up to 25 MHz, but the code operates it at 100Mhz. That makes it do some weired things - and I suspect one of those is that w

Author here. This code no longer works on new Pi's (it does a lot of low level very hardware stuff from userspace without a proper kernel driver). The code was written in a 24 hour Hackathon, so is very far from maintainable. However
