MapTiler is _way_ cheaper and a bit more ethical. Also: you can double dip. When the free tier of mapbox runs out, swap over to MapTiler/StadiaMaps or any other provider of vector tiles.

TL;DR: The canary channel of Windows contains some references which hint that Windows will become a subscription instead of an upfront sale.

Hey @presson, I signed up as dev to get my webapp listed. I stumbled upon your priced plans, and was wondering what a 'direct download link' is and why I would pay $10/month for it.

A PWA is nothing more then a glorified web site, which opens full screen. Security-wise, they cannot do anything worse then a website can. In other words, this is _less_ then a native app can do.

Such a niche map is something that is very hard to pull of. You need a community of millions to contribute geodata, so if such a map is not based on OpenStreetMap, it is destined to whither after a few years. But, don't fret. This is p

For those who want to help out with adding all public toilets to OpenStreetMap: I made a website to make this easy: https://mapcomplete.org/toilets You can see all toilets without an account and add a missing toilet or upda

Well, it is not as if the OSM-community is a monolithic one. Some people are hardline anti-corporate and don't like this; others are part of a big corporation and see this as business as usual. Even if Lyft would not give back in some

Map Traps (as these are called) are normally pretty harmless, e.g. a non-existent, small cul-de-sac that doesn't exist. A turn restriction (which is quite invisible!) seldom is.

The old server broadcasts a 'this person has moved'-message. Your followers will then automatically switch over to the new account. This implies that: - If the old server is offline or unwilling, you cannot move - Your old toots a

This is something that I'm doing with MapComplete - certain features are 'unlocked' when a certain number of changes has been reached (e.g. when the contributor has >25 changesets, the tags of the data are shown)

The reason that I haven't pursued a gamification approach with https://mapcomplete.osm.be is twofold: - I'm focusing on other usability issues (and features) first - I'm worried that "mapping for points"

As hardcore-OSMer: this is pure FUD. There are suspicions, but no hard proof has ever been found about this. However, there is a well-known (and non-problematic) case where OSM-data is used in GMaps. Some polish bus agency used OSM to creat
