Is there any case of a company suffering significant financial backlash due ransomware attacks? My current impression is: consumers don't care, regulators don't care... so why should CEOs care?

How does that work? Are institucional investors writing "plz return to office or we are going bust" emails to every company?

Re: 4th paragraph Nowadays Windows only provides a nice SDK for C#. If you want to create apps in any other language you will need to use the Win32 ABI or some wrapper.

AM in particular is quite intuitive as you can study the modulation visually. IMO it's the "everyone could have invented that" modulation technique. FM is built on a simple idea, but it has more involved maths. Analog televis

I've seen some investment banks provide a small device that looks like a calculator and generate MFA codes. Not sure what they are called.

While working in telecom data centers circa 2016 I've seen many single rack computers from Dell, IBM, HP, Huawei... Not sure that's a new ideia, ex. the open source bits.

According to my anedoctal experience, that's grossly wrong across many industries.

Sure. Just note all products you mentioned are rather old. When AWS announces anything serverless nowadays, things do not scale to zero.

It basically doesn't have the main thing that makes Cloud Run so valuable. Speaking more generally, it seems AWS is allergic to creating products that scale to zero nowadays.

Networking equipment used by ISPs (which is Nokia's main revenue source) is not really comparable to consumer level stuff. That said I left telecom (used to work for Huawei btw) in 2018, people were talking about hyper convergence and

Why would anyone invest in stocks when they can have higher, lower risk returns by buying govt. bonds / investing in money markets?

Related: https://playwright.dev/ has a built-in code generator. In *my opinion*, it's also more pleasant to work with than Selenium.

Most countries have complicated tax codes. That's not a good reason for tax filling to be hard, unless the tax agency itself doesn't know how much a person should be paying.

> And as Heroku has proven, there is money to be made charging a premium for such convenience Heroku proved you can get many people to use your service by offering free stuff. Maybe there was a reason they sold the business.

I tend to agree. Their computer service is 4x more expensive than Fargate, which is expensive already. Plus AWS has spot / reserved instances. You gotta really hate AWS's UX to use a service like that.

I solved that by deleting services in every new deployment, during CD. Not elegant, but we lost nothing of value.

The challenge of running OCI containers in every OS is a bit similar to the problem of running the same binary in every OS. I think the only true solutions are (a) OS vendors develop their own native container platforms with UX similar or b

I did some napkin math (could be very, very wrong) but this server costs ~ 225,000 USD according to Dell's webpage. AWS does not have a 100% similar VM, but you could have something close for ~ 20,000 USD monthly. Not that bad. However
