Right, but you can test this real-world with much lower stakes. Airliner aircraft are relatively cheap and easy to acquire. SCUBA gear is for diving underwater where pressure increases, not for breathing high in the atmosphere where air pre

But why? To what end? And where would all the passengers be? That theory is outlandish, not because of the technical considerations, but the seeming lack of motivation for doing that. A cursory Google search shows that Jeff Wise doesn'

This article is very click-baity. Boxplots are a single tool for data analysis. They do not apply in every situation, nor do any other tools. The same goes for pie charts, which are constantly being accused of always distorting data. Pie ch

There is a great bias against failure, even for seasoned academics. I always liked this quote from Feynman "If you’ve made up your mind to test a theory, or you want to explain some idea, you should always decide to publish it whicheve

This sounds a bit like a blind squirrel finding a nut or the no true Scotsman fallacy. If the system doesn't break, then clearly the crisis wasn't big enough just yet... but eventually it's going to break!

This is the crux of the problem in my opinion. Children look to adults as role models for what to learn and why. We already know that children respond better to role models who have similar ethnicities and backgrounds to them, let alone bei

This visualization appears to be for batch gradient descent only, not stochastic or mini-batch. That said, your critique would be true of similar visualizations for gravity warping space-time, yet these visualizations are still widely used

If Congress stepped in to mandate it, the flip-flopping wouldn't happen. You said it. This is a feature of the US government. It allows prototyping of policies before codifying them.

So you get this booklet to reference on tests? If so, that sounds fantastic. It's the concepts that matter. Either way, thanks! I'm saving this. It's a wonderful reference.
