You need to download and run the Kindle software from Amazon on you Mac, PC, tablet, or phone. The books you buy can be downloaded and read through that.

If I recall, Rails got the bad rap early on because Twitter thought it was the cause. It turned out they were making synchronous calls to a Jabber server, and something in that connection was getting overloaded and causing their apps to ha

If you read the article, Oyster is for select books too (100k, vs. Amazon's 350k). But for Amazon you have to have a Kindle. Won't work with the Kindle app on tablets, phones, or desktop.

You should also read "Fire in the Valley". Awesome book about the beginnings of the computer revolution in Silicon Valley.

I agree. We shouldn't call these things games. They are predatory social assaults on the unsuspecting.

The judge was absolutely correct to rule this way. Some people cry "miscarriage of justice", but you need to look back on what happened when the iPad and iBooks came out. Amazon ruled the ereader/ebook marketplace, because i

I wonder if anyone is considering or doing any kind of studies correlating the lack of investment in government (i.e. low taxes) and these kinds of problems with law enforcement? It seems like if we're investing less in government, wh

Let me say to start that I'm no JavaScript expert. I don't write JavaScript full-time (we're a small company; I don't do anything "full"-time), though I do like the language and what it can do for web-based cl

Totally agree that it's a completely different market, a $60 game vs. a $1 game, and anyone comparing digital iPhone and Android downloads to X1 downloads should stop. I will, however, guarantee we will never see $30 release-day games

Let me recommend Yeoman plus Angular. Yeoman is that extra step above and beyond basic Grunt. Integrates Bower so your common components stay separate, then builds out your stylesheets and JS like they should be for deployment. It's a nice

If Rust had some of the libraries that Go has, I'd be doing all of my development in Rust.

I just went back to Scala from Go for a personal project I've been working on, and I have to say I don't miss Go. I feel much more productive in Scala, and my code seems just solid that it ever did in Go. To be specific, six things still b

No, I get that part. I'm talking more about building a database from models. It seems like these tools are designed to build the database scheme from the object models, which to me is just as bad as building the objects from the schema. Id

I came to Django & South after using ActiveRecord and Rails migrations for years, and it drove me nuts. Not trying to cause a big argument, but why the big push in the Python community to model database tables via object properties/fie

A couple of problems. You didn't really address any of these issues. Apparently to you dumping a little oil in a ditch or some tar in a bog is equivalent to dumping millions of galleons into lakes, rivers, and oceans. Did you know that with

Dismissed like an industry spokesman! These pipelines are ecologically dangerous, primarily because (a) they are aging (many are over 50 years old) and (b) we don't, as a country, do a very good job of holding oil companies responsible for

At my company we've been arguing this same point for years. It doesn't matter what your friends like; it matters what people with similar interests like. Rarely are your friends and family a reflection of all of your likes and dislikes.
