Thank you for pointing out my grammatical failure. Tom's work is amazing, I read it and was really impressed. There are not many people who swim on this level of coding. What I meant was that I knew that executables consisting of print

As was noted by jstrieb, there exists a compiler that does that, so basically any native program. There is no challenge in that. A real challenge would be, how far can you cripple an instruction set such that it still can do something usefu

ASCII executables have been made in the past and use any displayable ASCII character. The difference with those is that this project is exclusively alphanumeric. To my knowledge that is a first.

Hi HN! When ASCII art is the executable.... Executables consisting exclusively of alpha-numeric characters. The digits "0123456789" are used for dark, the letters "acemnorsuvwxz" for light. Removing instructions that are

CSS "visual formatting" was broken since day 1 due to inconsistency. Take for example "height: auto", a key component in vertical (absolute) positioning. According to section 10.6.4 "Absolutely positioned, non-repla

Or... what I also encountered and found to be the hardest to reverse engineer, having a block decode in the interrupt vector table using all registers including stack pointers as decode keys. That meant that making a mistake would result in

True, I started optimistic seeding much potential in possibilities to extend HTML only to discover that embedded javascript only works when the SVG is the main URL target or wrapped in <object> or <iframe>. Sad actually.

You can use scripted SVG in combination with github pages HTML using: <embed src="scripted-svg.svg" type="image/svg+xml" width="200" height="200"> I couldn't get it working with README

I believe that Google pushed DoH to track your cross-site browsing. TLS hides your URL, and blockers can break adsense tracking and/or any other call-home backlinks. Using DoH, especially one served by an advert company is just signing

You can catch that with a pass-on clause. The idea behind this is to stop commercially exploitation of your contribution to FOSS with intention to keep everything for themselves and keeping the FOSS philosophy for those who do care.

How about a new type of licence. If you contribute to FOSS its copyleft, otherwise if you want to use it closed source its a copyright 10% revenue based commercial licence.

The epiphany I experienced with rebasing is that this is an incorrect visualisation of the workflow. It's not like you create a separate branch and work independent of master. It's more like working on a kind of local pre-release

I believe there is still potential. Dominant TCP implementations bet on the single horse "TCP Congestion Control" which is a different breed for a different situation.

Back in 1996 I developed a TCP/IP stack from the ground up based on the the DARPA and RFC specifications from that era. The impression I has from the quality of consistency was that TCP/IP was a students project. Delayed-ACKs was

It uses dithering by Spacial Colour Quantification to get the best photorealistic 93x93/186x186 colour image. The title plays on that the QR can be near photo and not some pixelated icon.

Ultimately it should be made possible to do it locally. Current setting is low-quality and takes about 1-2 seconds. Mid-setting about 20 seconds and high about 20 minutes.
