I think it's the computers. Most of the ghosts I see weren't trolls, just young accounts going far enough against the grain to get downvotes. If it's humans doing it, they are absurdly harsh.

It absolutely should be illegal to delete files from a device that is currently rented or owned by another party unless they give explicit permission. It should be wire fraud, just like hacking a server and forcing it to act in a way the ow

There are a lot of us that want a third party, but IMO it's just not going to happen without changing the voting system.

When they try, the monopoly lowers its prices until the competitors are out of business.

Because the theoretical government was too small to force even a duopoly, so one provider has bought all the wires.

Yeah! I don't want to trivialize it (a lot), because I understand it would be intimidating to live out, but I'd love to be in a situation that person is complaining about. "Help me, I'm learning too much too quickly!" Instead I feel like I'

According to the redshift and mass measurements of distant galaxies, it seems like the universe is expanding faster than gravity would keep it together.

I think it is completely absurd that tablet OS's would ever allow a website to disable zooming. It's like a usability nightmare. Permanent solutions... maybe email the websites that do it?

What an absurd thing to spend time debating. For anyone else that thought this was going to be about working spaces, it's actually about why double-spacing after a period is superior. The arguments amount to "because I like it" and "because

I think it's pretty easy to get flamed on IRC; pick a channel and then pick an opinion that differs from the majority. I've been told I was stupid and irrational for preferring the wrong code editor before. It's admittedly infuriating whe

If your company's "most precious resource" is capital and not equity, that's indicating that you are expecting to fail. Equity is already far more risky than a salary in companies that think they'll succeed. I hope you are successful, but I

Perhaps people will get clued in and protest. I'm hoping for a grassroots org to use handheld devices and, in aggregate, constantly monitor all police and lawmakers, posting their every move online.

WoW is ethically worse than, say, Mario, but better than a slot machine, which is in turn better than everything from Zynga.

Don't worry about that post, you are being rational. Apple is increasingly unfriendly to developers and power users. Choosing Android or Linux at this point makes a ton of sense.

Yes, this is exactly how I feel. The law was horrible, but it had a majority. The only explanation is that the legislators are voting about something they don't understand or are flat-out corrupt. The fact that SOPA wasn't passed after Wiki

When you look at a bill like SOPA, there's no reasonable conclusion other than the majority is corrupt or the majority is willing to vote on something they do not understand. Both situations are fairly disturbing.

Not to burst your bubble, but adding a keyboard to a tablet makes it a touchscreen laptop. It's perfectly fine if that's what you enjoy, but you're not really obsoleting laptops if the alternative is a smaller laptop.
